Question for @Charlie or any other resident experts recently had a scrape in the MH and this has left some paint on the body work (bright orange!). I have to renew the quarter panel but there are some scuffs on the ABS (I think) panel above and the skirt beside it. What can I use to remove it would T Cut be OK, trying to get away without repainting...

You've been tangoed! :D

You might find the paint on the bodywork will rub off with a damp cotton weave dishcloth, this would be my first attempt rather than try to use anything abrasive on it.

Oh, you need to tell us HOW you were tangoed? :)

Its a bit of a mystery as we found it when we stopped for a night but I think Mrs T may have cut in after overtaking a bit quickly but it may have been someone hitting us we are not sure.

T Cut will probably be too abrasive, try GENTLY rubbing a little WD40 on it, followed by a gentle polish & finish with a waxing.

Just a thought, I wonder if some baby wipes would do the trick? ... not the new 'water' ones that don't move anything though!

Good thing is I can practice on the broken part when I remove it before tackling the panels on the van not being replaced:D..

An alternative to painting the bodywork, you could instead put something over it, like a reflector, bump strip, sticker etc ... I quite like these stickers ...

Are you having the broken bit replaced at some point? Only if you are then surely it doesn't matter if you damage the finish if all you want to do is get the paint off? In which case I would go for the T Cut option and if that doesn't work I'd try something with a bit more oomph - maybe use one of those window scrapers for taking the paint off glass and then getting the last of it of with a bit of solvol autosolve.

But if you're not getting it replaced then ignore all of the above. :)

might find it cheaper to get that corner plastic repaired . there are places around that can fix that easily. and very cheaply.

no. some of the repair places have plastic melting gear to repair corner pieces , plastic bumpers allsorts of things . seen some undetectable repairs over the years .
unfortunately throw away society wins very often.
Yes I know silly! We had to have the rear bumper of a previous MH repaired when it was damaged by some 'youths' throwing bricks in Holland ... the repair was totally invisible once it had been repainted, no indentations/lines, dints at all.

Autoglym Super Resin Polish is ultra low cut so yes it should do it but it will just take longer. Give it a try and if it doesent work I will post a link to something else.

I fitted the new quarter panel on Saturday and tried to get the scuff marks off, polish, WD40 etc. did not work so as it was such a small area I had some T Cut scratch remover that I carefully used to remove the orange paint and it all came off quite well. Then I polished the whole van with Auto Glym and waxed with Colonite, looks like new.

One question the Colonite says its permanent wax, does anyone know how permanent it is?

Colinite will last six to eight months depending on your wash teqniques.
