I admit it, I aint actually looked or made any attempt at pulling my knob off yet, but thought I would ask as it bound to be a bit more tricky than just giving it a twist and a tug or three..

Oh, sorry,,, The knob in question is the gear knob on my X250 Ducato
The bloody boot surround has made a bid for freedom.. I wanna take the whole gator assembly off to weld some new bits of plastic to the set up

Had to repair the plastic securing clip on the bottom of the leather gator on the transit gear lever... found out in the end it was threaded... but the initial loosing was hard... now it's been off it's easily undone... really could do with some threadlock on it now.
Andy.

Boatie for 20 years
Well, now we know that he has Jaws of steel, and from recent posts he has droppings like dark matter and a knob that is about to be relocated.

This man needs more than a doctor! :)

From what I've heard of some of your recent daliances J, leave it another week or two and it will probably drop off of its own accord.

It pulls off - there are no threads - and it's very hard to do.
Now going by all the other answers, I aint sure whether this is another double entendre Tony !!

Only joking.. I shall try just pulling it and see how I get on (y) Thank you (y)

Is there ever a single entendre?
If there was, you'd get there very easily

Hope it works well.

More than toes wet now!
John, you need to use a specialised tool.
Basically it clamps round the shaft and gives the knob a strong and steady pull, not a jerky action. Funnily enough it's called a knob puller.
Generally available all over the place but there seems to be a huge proliferation of them in Brussels. Perhaps another overseas trip is required to see first hand how it's done?:whistle:

Welllll.. I pulled it, pushed it, twisted it, yanked on it several times.. and then noticed the gator has an elasticated 'neck' which just slips over the knob !
All fixed now.. Plastic clip welded on the lower plastic surround and a dab with the glue gun to hold the gator mount in place properly..
It had been repaired before.. hope my repair lasts a bit longer :)
