I am putting a roof rack on my 6m pvc so needed to remove my already installed f65 awning!
Unbolted the awning securing bolts x2
Eventually persuaded the awning out of its 3x holding brackets (with a brickies hammer and piece of wood)
Slid the awning along the length of the van and tilted it down to the ground!!!
Put the awning aside
Removed the bolts holding the brackets on(3x2)
The brackets are Sikaflex ed on and are sticking stubbornly to the roof!
Made a cutting wire with 2 x key rings and some picture hanging wire tonight so will give it a try in the morning!
Canny Sikaflex the new roof rack brackets on as it can only be done above 9degrees.
Still it will give me some time to clear the old Sikaflex off 😂
So yes a 64 year old man can remove a f65 Fiamma awning from a hi top 6 m van by himself but I wouldn’t like to do it again😳

I get some funny looks from the neighbours when I’m on top of the van….

Especially a few years back when I was on top of the house repointing the chimney….😆😎

Fitted my F65 10 years ago on my own, I put the ladder bang in the middle and carried it up on my arms, just like I did with wood guttering 60 years ago.
You don’t have to slide the awning off, you can just tilt it and it comes out of the brackets.

Slid the awning off the van AFTER I removed it from the brackets and laid it on the van roof. I didn’t fancy lifting it with both hands while descending a 6 foot set of steps! 😐

Why not? I did that when removing the awning from my AS Clubman and it was easy……had to change my underwear afterwards though…….. ;)

On my 2007 x250 Ducato PVC, when I fitted my Fiamma awning, the connecting brackets were part of the of the body structure.
I was told it was done by Fiat so that white van man could fit a roof rack, maybe yours is the same, check the other side of the roof and see if you have brackets on that side?

Yes indeedy there are @mushrooms on the roof ready to fit any roof rack on any x250.
The F65 awning brackets are attached to these in my case with bolts AND Sikaflex!
As the Sikaflex has probably been there for over 10 years it’ll be a b@gger to cut and clean off!

I think Tool Station sell an aerosol that might help, or I use, what looks like a large Stanley type blade that, should, go into a wallpaper stripper, which I use in my Stanley knife handle. It has a small amount of flex that helps. Good Luck and take care!

What also helps, if you know a farmer, is the thing that they use for scrapping out the hooves of animals. It has a sharp edged, tight curled blade and a handle, normally wood, but be careful, they can be very sharp. (It's especially handy for removing old sealant around skylights etc.)

We must look after our Murvi's!

Don’t think any blade will get underneath the brackets, may be wrong, but I’ve made a wire cheese cutter just in case! Was going to try it out today but the wife doesn’t want me falling off the van roof before we fly to Lisbon on Tuesday to visit family!
