Hi Everyone!

I'm new to the forum, so apologies if this query is answered elsewhere.... I have searched but might have missed it.
My washbasin in our 2002 Hymer B584 Classic is badly cracked on the edge. I've found someone who will cast a new one for me but I'm having difficulty working out how to remove the old basin. Can anyone help?
We've owned this Hymer since 2007 and it has been VERY well used.... it's time to start looking after it a bit better I think.

Thanks again! Dawn.

A photo would help, is it the one fixed to the shower screen that folds out ?
If so there are four pop rivets on the back of the screen holding it on.
Edit: just seen the photo, it's a different type so no idea, sorry

My tried and tested method for MoHo sinks is to remove every screw you can find until its loose.
I would take off the cabinet door and look for any screws especially up into the top/sink section.
I'm sorry I can't be any more help -- good luck.

Different make (Swift) I know but have you tried feeling around the inside of the fitment i.e. through the door. I discovered that our washroom basin was held on by several butterfly screws accessible from the cupboard underneath.

Thanks everyone for your replies.... We've undone all the screws we can find, but the problem is everything in the washroom seems to have a 'lip' which is placed under or over adjoining panels. Unfortunately it seems that the whole lot has to come out if I want to change it. Might have to go for a repair instead. Any suggestions as to professional repairer? I'm in South Wales. Or info re easy DIY repair? Any advice gratefully received.

I think it's a major job to remove ( we have the same basin.)
Would it be possible to cut around the edge where it lips under the mirror moulding and then when refitting seal around with sealant.

The rear panel/mirror may need to be removed first. Assuming that the sink top has a vertical lip that goes up behind the rear panel/mirror.

Thanks everyone.... I think I've decided to leave it in situ and attempt a repair as removal means taking out pretty much every panel in the washroom. The basin is still waterproof and otherwise sound, but I don't want the damage to get any worse. Google search comes up with Plast-aid.... anyone got any experience of using this? or something similar? I've now got some pics of the damage which might also help. Does anyone know what material the original Hymer washbasins are constructed from? I'm not sure if it's acrylic, plastic, fibreglass etc. If I knew I might be able to get a more specific material to repair it with. Thanks in advance for any help. Dawn

I love to see the post when you have had it done and who remodelled it for you.
Good luck with it.

Plast-aid looks to be right stuff, plastic and acrylic, waterproof and can be sanded, let us know how you get on please.

grind out the cracks to remove debris and leave a V groove. Then use a plastic filler, or gel coat filler if fibreglass. sand smooth and degrease, then paint the entire sink to cover repair and usual staining. I use wheel paint for this if silver or white, or plasticote for other colours

You could always get it done with speedcoat if it doesn’t go to plan. They now do a gloss version of their product for basins.

Carol and Eddie we had a 584 best van we ever had but electrics went bad.

Agree, and would suggest if possible get some filler behind if possible?

vin0114 yes, we have had our 584 for 15 years now and still love it. Ours is a different sink from one shown. Touch wood we have had no trouble with the electrics

Surprised no-one has yet mentioned a boatbuilder to do the repairs - they're usually very good from all reports I've seen.
