Decided to drop the spare wheel from it's underbody carrier today ( just to make sure I know what to do by the side of a motorway in a hail storm ) so with 7 inch long winding tool in hand I crawled underneath the van, the distance between the winding socket and the drop bracket of the chassis is 5 inches so impossible to fit in. Very funny Mr Knaus, anyone with an answer.

I have a thread on here... with a solution ... and pics I think...will seek it out and post here...

But it does involve shortening the supplied tool... so be warned..

Thanks Fletton, read your link and got a mate lined up to do welding. So crawled underneath with winding tool with a view to getting measurement, realised that when done I would have to lower tyre from the inside working above the leaf spring☹️. Plan B. Undo the winding unit brackets, put spacers behind one bracket and drill new bolt holes in other bracket, reassemble with winding tool pointing between rear of tyre and wheel arch. Brilliant even if I say so myself.
