4D are much nicer in my opinion
4D are good but I couldn't find any with the UK logo on them

They appear to be available here https://www.bespoke-plates.co.uk/shop/4d-plates/bespoke-4d-plates/

Imagine all the black streaks that would need constantly cleaning off caused by the raised letters!

Got them on two of our vehicles. No black streaks as yet.

Hi all,

Sorry to bump an old thread but i'm new here and couldn't find any recent posts on this topic.

Are 4d number plates legal? I've read somewhere that they aren't legal and I hear horror stories of people being pulled over and fined up to £100 due to the anpr cameras not being able to read them?

Has anyone had experience of this or got any recommendations of a 4D number plate supplier; or are these more hassle than they're worth?

Thanks in Advance,
SD
had them on 3 of our vehicles for quite awhile now and had no issues.

Hi welcome 🤗

Google says ;
Are 4D number plates legal? As long as the plate meets all other BS AU 145e legal requirements, are made from reflective material with non-reflective solid-black non-reflective lettering and with no background pattern, 4D plates are legal.

Welcome to the fun

Google is your friend

I did see that on google but the DVLA and DVSA, amongst other Governing bodies, generally all have conflicting information. However, I have just found this supplier who claim that the DVSA also state they're road legal according to their inspection guidelines and this supplier also have a section on their website for all the legislation they comply with so it's seems as though they should be fine.

Not sure if i'm allowed to put external links but for anyone interested here it is, was the 1st result in google for 'are 4d number plates MOT friendly':-

TIA,
SD.
I have had a couple of sets of plates from these people. Notb3 or 4D though. The details on the bottom of the plate do not necessarily have to be the plate maker (according to my old transport manager) I put my home postcode on.

Too true!

£100 on the spot fine though for anything that doesn't comply but its a matter of getting caught :ROFLMAO:
I must see thousands of pounds worth of f8nes driving past me everyday. They should open a whistle blowers website where you can submit pictures of illegal numberplate.
