Just about to make a decision on where to fit on the outside of the MH the self fill gas filler connection.

I think the one on the bottom flange looks better but use’s more gas pipe about a meter to get to the bottles.

The top one which is on door to the bottles, takes lot less gas pipe and is easier to fit.

If I use the bottom one do I need to put a non return valve in?

photo should be on here.

Ours was installed on the lower skirt as I wanted to leave the gas locker door unencumbered. The pipe feeds directly into the first cylinder’s fill valve.

thank for your info

Lower skirt and its only a flexible hose anyway so easy to thread through to the bottles.

I’m the skirt and use the smaller type connector, only requires a 30mm hole
Although they don’t come in white

Why Is needing a metre more gas pipe a problem? It won't affect the performance.

I fitted mine in the door with a right-angled connector (following Gaslow's instructions) as if I fitted the filler in the low-level skirt I felt that it would be a bit of a struggle inserting the heavy filler gun and manipulating the pump's stiff filler hose so lowdown.
If I use the bottom one do I need to put a non return valve in?
There is already a non-return valve in my door filler assembly and another at the cylinders.

I have fitted one Gaslow and one Calor to hedge my bets.

Skirt for me, permanent fitting no movement in the fill pipe every time I open or close the door to turn the gas on or off. I bought a kit from Gasit. There's a non return valve somewhere.

Go for the skirt, it is usually metal, therefore more robust than your door. Some of the filling nozzles are quite heavy and if it slips from your hand could stress your door.

How about in the locker. It's where ours is never had a problem filling and no body drilling. Easy to remove just leaving 4 small screw holes

I went for the skirt fitting and find it works well. Only thing I can say to consider is if you have a choice of which side of the van to fit it on put it on the same side as the diesel filler. My gas filler is on the opposite side and it is a pain if filling both gas and diesel in the same visit, inevitably some parks right behind you 🙈 ,you then can't get to the pump you want(normally the gas one) and have to drive out and come back in.something to think about
Cheers Cris

There is just enough room down the left side of the Burstner cabinet to fit the refill valve and still have it inside the gas cupboard.

Same as me. Easy installation and no issues filling (y)

My cousin has been refused a couple of times now opening door to access fill point - UK.
I often hear stories but have never experienced it. Never even been questioned once.

You can just about see ours in the skirt if you look closely? Easy to do and i Think the fill hose will have non return built in.😊

I was with your thoughts until recently. Watched a lady struggling to get Safefill bottle out of a locker to drag to cashier window to prove it was an official Safefill bottle too just last week. Slightly different I know but those ridgy bottle fill adapters on fleabay are having a negative impact on fill stations.

Agreed. That's where mine is. I don't really understand why anyone would consider an external filler.

Thanks everybody for your response brilliant lot of “funsters” and lot of information.

The reason I want an external filler is as a couple of you have stated that they have been refused . I have been refused several times when they see you opening gas locker door .

Happy New Year to all and safe travelling.

ps I am looking for a small label which states “ auto gas”. To stick near the external filler .

Agreed. That's where mine is. I don't really understand why anyone would consider an external filler. Apart from being refused to fill when you have the fillpoint in the locker is when you disconnect you get a release of gas from the gun, if your fillpoint is in the locker then you get the gas in the locker. Much better to release into free air outside the van IMHO.

You have altered my post!

You don't get gas anywhere - the gas locker is sealed from the van and has drop vents.

Sorry Tony - I didn’t intend to alter your post. Honest... My concern was for lockers that are not sealed, but take your correction 100%..

Dozens of suppliers with a variety of sizes, designs and colours if you search on eBay.
Here's just one example (It took me all of 15 seconds ;))

I have ours fitted on the skirt only disadvantage is filling station’s sometimes have high kerbs which can hamper access when parked too close to the pump.
Also bending down i not getting easier.🤣🤣

Depends on where it is.
Ours is in the garage so if the gas locker door open you could get gas into the van as the garage is vented to the van.

Exactly what we did, it’s mounted at the bottom of the locker in a very rigid plastic mount made on a printer, no holes anywhere 👍

That's mainly why I put mine in the gas locker door, especially since I have to connect the gun one-handed, which as you can imagine is quite a feat, even with the filler at nearly waist height.
