After being away for 4 days and using gas for hot water in the mornings (2 showers ) and a few kettles of tea, I thought we would have used quite a bit of gas. Went to fill up today and the pump was extremely slow but did not cut out. Went to another garage and had the same, it has always filled quickly and stopped at 80% so am a little perplexed, the system is about 10 years old and has been trouble free. Do I have a problem?

I think that having a shower every morning when away in the van is a bit extreme, I usually wait until day 4 at least, but even so you won't use that much over 4 days.

Used the gas a lot in France this summer...went to fill up on Monday and it cost £1.65 ...so didn't use that much as I had thought ..so would agree you are probably full. (y)

We have hot water on for showers every morning, all the cooking and fridge on gas as we don't use EHU occasionally the heating on. Average at this time of year 1.5 Lt per day in France, would probably we more in the UK.

Showers, kettle, fridge? = about 1 - 1.5 litres per day according to the threads on here and is about my average also and up to 2 litres a day in winter or colder weather if using heating, in very cold weather with heating on through the night I can use 3.25 litres per night.
Nov 16 6 nights 10.02 litres
Jan 16. 6. ". 20.05. "
April 3. 4. ". 5. "
Aug 29. 6 ". 8. "

So about a litre a night for you sounds about right if no fridge, and if you have a fridge your telling fibs about showering everyday!:D

Thanks everyone for your input. Using @dabhand s figures it seems I was panicking for nothing as we probably only used 4 to 5 ltrs. It's probably that we don't get times to use the van when the weather is do warm.

BTW, I noticed that you said your system was about 10 years old. AFAIK, the older cylinders need (recommended) testing every 10 years whereas (apparently), every 15 years for newer ones.
Might be worth checking out with the manufacturer.

Just for record... one of my 11kg Alugas bottles was showing empty ... so I decided to let the fridge continue to run to see how long from "showing" empty... to actually running out of gas... it'd been running for well over a week ... and finally ran out late last night... And I believe my fridge consumes circa .8ltrs ish /24hrs...
