Beautiful to see . Little bastards to the other wildlife . Drove through the Cotswolds a few weeks ago - and there were flocks of them .

They are beautiful but don't feed them I think their population far exceeds natural numbers most raptors survive within narrow bands red kites at the moment are everbodies favourite to the detriment of other birds of prey

Beautiful photos! We see lots as we enter the Chilterns along the M40 on our way to visit family and we know we are close 😊

Great to look at; awful when there's a lot and so you have to listen to them and OMG can they shit! Did not appreciate that part when a campsite we were on had them as very regular visitors.

Beautiful birds I hope this thread doesn’t descend into a hatred of them, that’s how they were wiped out years ago, persecuted to the point of extinction in the UK.

Great photo's. We have them down at roof height here in Harrogate, hundreds of them. It's interesting that the crows seem to fight them off in an air supremacy battle. Gets like the Battle of Britain some days. Love watching them.

What would an average person have on their bird table to feed them, I thought they fed on carcasses ?

I thought they were scavengers akin to vultures..... Never ever seen one approach another live animal.

Yes, scavengers no live quarry as far as I know, London in the Middle ages was full of them

They will go for young rabbits, mice and voles if they can and get an opportunity. But they are primarily scavengers. I once saw one grab a baby rabbit at Eccup in Leeds.

I always tell our JRT/Yorkie to be careful when we’re out and there’s a Red Kite flying over……it might be hungry!;)

As has been said, they’re lovely birds, and they’re also scavengers. We have often seen them when camping in mid Wales. A few years ago, we visited the Red Kite Feeding Centre at Gigrin Farm, Rhayader, where we learned about these birds - a very pleasant trip. It’s interesting to note that up to a couple of decades ago, they had been almost extinct - now they seem to be everywhere.
