We are there at the moment. Lots of rain, thunderstorms but supposed to improve tomorrow. We had the same thing here at Easter this year, I hope they dont think we bring it.

Very cloudy and windy this morning in Oliva. It rained very heavily yesterday as we left Castellon got to a point where it was hard to see where we were going so we pulled off at the services and had a read while it passed over. Seas are very rough with waves crashing over the breakwaters.

Apparently there are flooding problems at La Manga and they are evacuating parts of the site.

Anyone with any updates from the area? We were thinking of heading over that way but put off by reports of damage to infrastructure. Such reports not always accurate though, so I’d welcome any reports from the ground.

Thanks.

We are at Gruissan which is a popular stop en-route to and from Spain.
The aire is far busier than we would expect at this time of year. I suspect that lots are holing up here waiting for the weather further south to improve.

We are currently on a rally on the coast just South of Roses weather is hot and sunny but forecasting heavy rain over the weekend. Many of the sites in this area have closed for the winter and those that are open are rammed. Lot of folk staying rather than going South.

Could be a poor choice. Several days of rain for Northern Spain over the weekend. We are near Murcia and have only scattered thunderstorms for Friday, otherwise dry for the next 10 days

I read that 1500 MHs were evacuated from Majal. We were going to move into Spain from Portugal next week but what concerns me is where all the displaced people are going and whilst we can avoid the flood areas we cannot predict where will uncharacteristically become rammed!
Any insights would be appreciated?

We could, (only could), see you there....

We're en route back home to check out the damage (only minor we're told) but if the weather forecast is bad we'll hole up for a few more days.

We're north of Millau atm.

Forecast for Gruissan is a bit grotty for the next couple of days.
Thunder and rain forecast which is coming up from Spain, then moving further north in France.
We will stay where we are and batten down the hatches until it’s gone through.
Will be good to see you if you do arrive.

If it has been declared an 'extra ordinary event' then the problem passes from the insurance companies to the 'consorcio' then as long as he has insurance ( the company will normally tell you & supply forms to claim from them or register you online) 1,2m of water ,around 4' instigates a "total loss" payout for the complete sum the house is insured for ( whether under insured or not you get the amount you insured for) Same applies to contents.
All this information was supplied to me by my consorcio supplied assessor ( a registered & retained abogado= solicitor) when I was flooded in a gota fria in 2012.

Apparently busloads of students from University in Murcia turned up to help. Bro and wife got house cleared plus assisted elderly neighbours who actually lost part of their house. Local council is clearing all the damaged furniture etc from outside the houses plus the mud. He got a room at a local hostelry who were superb in putting up with their nightly muddy returns and making sure they were well fed before heading back to the house. thanks to gus-lopez for info, I've passed on but suspect bro is up to speed on that as he has had his place for about 20 years I think. Cheers!

My condolences for everyone who've suffered any sort of loss in the recent floods.

We appear to have got off lightly and are not expecting any bad surprises when we get back home next week.
