Hi I have just had my house insurance renewal from the Camping and Caravanning Club and the Broker we are with no longer insures Electric Bikes.
They sent me a quote from a different Broker but it only covers 60 day trips in total. Does anyone no where I can get 90 day cover Electric Bike Insurance?

Yellow Jersey were very good and I don't remember any restrictions on trips.

I had a problem getting insurance for our e-bikes a few years ago because they exceeded the value limits. Another issue was that that because of their design (GoCycle) it was not possible to use a gold standard through frame lock. At that time we were doing our home insurance with John Lewis and they suggested talking to John Lewis Specialist Home Insurance.
The specialist home insurance is not the cheapest insurance but it still worked out cheaper for us than paying for 2 bike insurance policies on top of the standard John Lewis home cover. It also has fewer restrictions about theft from vehicles. As long as the bikes are out of site i.e. in the motorhome garage they are covered.

Direct line, but they aren't cheap, nearly every other company I looked at said the bikes couldn't be left on a rack between 2100 and 0600. There's a lot in the small print.

We use BIKMO. Happy with them and the cover is excellent.

I looked at Bikmo for our electric bikes, and in the small print it stated that when travelling the bikes only insured when they are locked inside the vehicle, which means that even if they are locked to the external bike rack, they wouldn't be covered. I then looked at the Caravan and Motorhome Club website, and found that they have a deal with Bikmo that has additional cover for bikes locked onto racks on the outside of the vehicle. They also have 12 months cover for the price of 11, so I clicked through the link, put my membership number into the box and it all went through fine. The policy paperwork specifically mentions the C&MC additional cover, so I'm satisfied that I have the cover I want.

Ours are added to our Saga home insurance. We confirmed they are covered on the bike rack provided they are locked on. Covered in Europe as well (for up to 60 day trips I think).

Be very careful with Saga, at renewal read the small print very carefully, they have a habit of changing underwriters and T & C.

We had the bikes covered on the house insurance, one of the conditions was you had to ring them & tell them when going abroad, a few months after renewal I rang them and they said the bikes were only covered in the UK.
At renewal they had changed underwriters and the terms. I canceled the policy as they wanted double the price to cover the bikes, they gave me a full refund for the 3 months.

Hope it was what you are after. I went through the policy with a fine tooth comb and felt Bikmo provided the best and most flexible cover. Ours travel inside fortunately.

3 years 30,000 miles UK and Europe.. Campsites and off Grid.

Seems to cover what I need and was only £40. It's a pain that it needs to be secured with a gold category lock to an immovable object when in our garage at home.

The gold category lock was a stumbling point for us. They all seem to require a through frame fitting but our Gocycles don’t have that sort of frame. This was one of the reasons we ended up with specialist home cover because there were far fewer restrictions on the policy.

For my own peace of mind I did manage to fit immovable ground anchors in our garage and attach hefty bike security to them but the locks were not gold category.
