Just got back from Norfolk. Dannys Paddock CL at Ludham and The Midden CL at Wells next the Sea are both good. The latter has it's own request stop for the light railway. Avoid Snettisham. Height barriers at both The Beach car park and RSPB.
Both car parks are owned by wild life people. The bird people own the first and the wilding Ken hill own the other. The beach bar did used to let you camp in their car park if eating there in the evening

Arrived at the Station CL today, thanks for the recommendation as it’s a lovely little site.

@JockandRita also recommended a stop over at a very popular marina on the broads, but we were too big, they could only take vans up to 6.5m i think
We stayed there previously in our 8 x metre Hymer Dave, and when we checked it out a few weeks ago whilst on a THS at Hoveton, there were a couple of MHs longer than 6.5m on there.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

+1 delicious

If you get anywhere near Mablethorpe the fish and chips at saltys are also very good.
I live in Lincolnshire and Mablethorpe is another 90 minutes north of me! It’s a long hike from Norfolk! 🤓

We have a week off starting next Friday and thinking of visiting Norfolk area, any recommendations for must do and see places. We enjoy a bit of cycling so a site near some quiet roads or cycle paths would be ideal, we also prefer CL sites to large commercial sites.

Don't go if you have a dog. The area rife with Alabama rot.

That’s a bit sensationalist and inaccurate. There is Alabama rot throughout the south and south east, mainly wooded and muddy areas and it tends to be winter to spring. It’s a case, like with many things, of being aware and making sure if you take your dog for woodland or marshy, muddy walks you wash its paws off after. Norfolk is a county full of dogs and having lived here all my life and had dogs all my life this is the first I have heard of the county being rife with it.

If it keeps the numbers down let them believe it, haha. More space for us.

Bit late since we’ve been here two days, I’ve looked it up and no reported cases in this area since 2012 so I’ll take my chances.

Do you have evidence for that as well as information on where this had been found and how frequently
See post #42. No reported cases since 2012. Rife?

If you visit Norwich and fancy a walk try this
Nooks and crannies walk.
We cycled into Norwich today, although we didn’t do the tour we did enjoy exploring the city. Marriotts way cycle path is ideal for getting to the city, 9.6 miles from the CL and all off road.

Just about enough
If you want a longer route go to Whitwell station. Then leave the path and take the road through to Reepham station. Then onto Aylsham where you can join Bure valley railway path to Wroham. Alternatively from Aylsham it’s a short ride to Blickling Hall.

Woodlands Camping at Bodham just outside of Sherringham. You can get the bust right outside the site into Sherringham or Cromer. You can walk into Sherringham through some lovely woods.

Time to move on again tomorrow, we’ve spent two nights at Thurne on The Red House CL. Very basic site but priced at the correct level, £12pn including ehu. Some lovely walks from site and cycling on quiet lanes, pub and shop in village, what else do you need.
Off to Cromer tomorrow.

Cromer is nice and has a pier but also worth trying Sheringham just along the coast. We preferred Sheringham, nicer shops and sea front. Enjoy.

That’s rubbish! We live on the Lincs/Norfolk border, have all sorts of animals including a dog, and have never heard of, or seen reports of Alabama rot while we’ve lived here! 🙄

Holkham hall is lovely, really beautiful to look round, and the grounds are fabulous for a walk. Nearby there is the Norfolk Brickyard campsite, which is a bit rough for motorhomes as some of the pitches are small and wooded. They do have more open pitches, however, and an open-air pizza oven, and a bar in a barn. All on the coast near Holkham beach and Holkham hall, near Wells. Have a great time!
