I have had a chat with Plusnet and they say that people who have a domain name managed by Plusnet have not yet been migrated to Greenby because it is a more complex operation and they are also too busy dealing with the consequences of the switching off land lines at the year end. That is odd, I thought all Plusnet Webmail customers had been migrated over to Greenby. I certainly have and although very patchy to begin with, it appears to be running smoothly now. I have three email addresses with them and all for free.

Yes, they are good.quite a lot of people, including me, moved to Andrews & Arnold. AAISP or aa.net
They can provide as much or as little as you need.
Yes, easy to do. You can use your 'landline' number anywhere you are, so long as you have an Internet connection.I can use my landline phone number whilst away in the motorhome (even in France I believe).
But not with my current arrangements, which is why I am looking at using A&A.Yes, easy to do. You can use your 'landline' number anywhere you are
Yes, I meant with A&A. Having said that, once a landline goes to Voice over IP (VoIP) as they are all doing now, it shouldn't matter who your ISP is, you should be able to use it anywhere. Some providers keep that very quiet thoughBut not with my current arrangements, which is why I am looking at using A&A.
Organising it will wait until until I get home from FranceIf you wanted to, you could also use one company to provide your broadband & a different one to handle your phone number.
I sold my hosting company back in 2015.Did Karl Grommet not used to do hosting but think he's stopped now.![]()
I have now moved over the email from one of my domains to Mythic-Beasts. It works, but as expected, the emails that are being redirected are getting flagged as spam on Gmail, which is through no fault of Mythic-Beasts. The DKIM and other DNS records are all set up correctly, but from the old 123reg the emails were being delivered to an inbox and then a rule on this was to then forward to Gmail. The end result in theory is the same, but for this one the emails are being forwarded as they arrive, which may do something to the headers, which is different from the way the other one works. I can change to an inbox delivery on Mythic-Beasts and then forward, as it's not a lot more money, to be honest (less than a £1 a month).
All in all, it does work, though.
I used 123-reg since I sold my hosting company. Back then I was a registrar and a Nominet tag holder so could register/renew .uk domains for £2.50 a year.Personally, 123-reg, have done for 20 odd years.
Another vote for Zen, very reliable.I use Zen internet who also provide my Internet at home.
I host my GPS tracker server at home, but Zen provide a domain hosting service with a fuIl control panel.
For my use it works, and for the very small amount of email these 2 domains receive, it's not worth paying for individual mailboxes; currently only one has been flagged as spam and moved to the spam folder (the first one sent when the spf records were still being cached from the old server). If they start to ban them i will just upgrade them to mailboxes and get them to log in directly to pick up their mail, but it's been this way for the past 10 years with no issues, but saying that I know gmail are cracking down so who knows. i guess time will tell as always.I strongly recommend against using email forwarding anywhere. And in fact I ban it on my server as do all my clients now. (I am a freelance consultant / Server admin).
The problem is.
Normal Email -> forwarded -> gmail = ok
Spam -> forwarded -> gmail = gmail thinks the forwarding server is the spammer and blocks everyone on that server.
To gmail the source of the server appears to be the forwarding servers IP address not the originating IP address and it is the forwarding server that gets banned.
I ended up moving the domains over as well as they take the expiry from the existing registrar which is good. That way you also don't have to wait for your existing registrar to transfer as it's done automatically once you change the ips tag to mythic-beasts.I’m another PlusNet user who has jumped to Mythic-Beasts, or am at least in progress, waiting for PlusNet to transfer my domain DNS to Mythic-Beasts. A bit of a hassle, mostly in setting up mailboxes etc, but as PlusNet has been very erratic with email delivery over the last couple of days, it should be worthwhile.
