In the summer when I broke down on the A1, I put out my warning triangle. A few comments by funsters have alerted to the distance to put the triangle. I want to buy a LED flashing triangle to add to the non flashing one. I have seen them at the shows over the years but when researching on the web they all seem to be the same low quality product. Mixed reviews but generally they seem to be c**p the same product sold by different retailers. They are about £18 to £22.
Anyone bought a decent one ?

Keep an eye open, from memory at some point in 2022 flashing lit triangles become obligatory in Spain with other EU countries to follow suit over the next few years.

(The UK however will expect you position a footman with a red flag 2 furlongs to the rear of the incident)

Not a triangle, its a lamp you put on the roof powered from a USB socket and it sends a single with your location to the emergency services.

As above, Triangles are being phased out in Spain, and will be replaced with a super powerful flashing light that fixes to somewhere suitable on your motorhome roof.....they work well, can be seen better than a triangle, where you fit on a Plastic or Alloy van I don't know, mine goes on my lowered sat dish which accepts the magnetic base of the lamp.

The real problem here is that anything that is going to sell well is instantly copied by the chinese, who add their 'make it as cheap as humanly possible' twist to it, and flood the market with crap making it very difficult for decent companies to compete.

I was looking at torches yesterday and couldnt find one in the selection available that wasnt made in China.

I don't carry a ladder. How am I going to get up onto the motorhomes roof to fix this if we break down?? And how will I make it stay on the GRP and aluminium roof magnetically?

You realise that they are ALL made in China, even the good quality ones?

Buy a cheap sucker gismo fix it to a small metal plate and the magnet will work - or replace the magnet with a sucker gismo - sorted

I wonder if that's based on the European wide eCall system? Which is a great idea. Except it's based on 2G mobile phone signals, which will disappear in the next couple of years.

Won't t be getting my ladder out on a motorway just pop it out through the rear roof light. Plenty of suggestions of how to fix it.

That's what is stopping me from buying one in the UK. Could not find one on Amazon that mentions GPS positioning and being able to send a notification to Trafico. Therefore all are probably not compliant with Spanish requirements.

My thoughts too when I looked.

Don't you go getting on the roof Peter, that's what you have Angela for.:whistle2:

Seriously though, it is a simple job to Sikaflex a zinc plated square of steel to your roof near a rooflight. I have done similar on mine, but down above the rear number plate for a temporary camera when I need it.

I think its a really good idea to have a beacon or preferably strobe for breakdowns - at last a new law that makes sense!!.

I dont think the Spanish Police are going to be stopping foreigners to see if they have the GPS version or not- when was the last time any of them asked to see your warning triangle, spare bulbs, Hi vis etc? So it leaves us free to do something a little more creative than attaching magnetic beacons to the roof which will look horrible - probably make PVC's look like breakdown vans.

My brother has little strobes inside one of the front lights on his trucks, I'm going to have a look at that, or even whether its practical to find something to replace the top marker lights. and do both jobs. Ive noticed a few cars where the indicators use the same housing as the DRL's ( I know this is the wrong end but thats how I'm thinking)

I have tested mine for fixing and visibility, I raise my small roof vent above the bed, my retracted Oyster dish is easily reached, I placed the lamp there....very confident that this is a far better option to warn other road users than using a warning triangle...soon to become a legal requirement here in Spain...

I was just looking at all my trousers and even they are all made in China or Cambodia!
I was surprised that the frame on my new bike was also made in Cambodia...most components Japan, and various other Asian locations....assembled in Germany where I bought the final product...perhaps the only non Asian component to make this item usable is the Air in the tyres....😊

What about when round a bend, say on twisty road in bright sunlight, not going to be much use in that scenario I would have thought.
A warning triangle placed round the bend possibly in both directions as at present much more effective?
