Recommendations for 20 year old Hymer insurance? (1 Viewer)

It's that time again, renewing MH insurance.

This year our MH is 20 years old and that appears to change the rules for a few insurance co's / brokers.

Any other recommendations as to other quality insurers that are not asking top premiums?

I used to be with Adrian Flux for many years with older MHs and they always gave me good service and breakdown cover, along with agreed valuation. Unfortunately they would not give green card cover, so I went to Saga. I don't have the agreed valuation with them but they do give green card cover and European breakdown cover on my 23 year old RMB.

It's done. £307 with Frank Pickles, 12 months Green Card but no recovery due to age.

I have only 1 year NCB as there was a 4 year gap between owning our last MH and owning this one. The maximum NCB we had on the earlier MH cannot be transferred after 2 years, so had to start again.

Isn't Frank Pickles part of the Adrian Flux group. I thought they were the ones that did motorhomes for Adrian Flux.

We have full timing insurance with Comfort on our 1992 Hymer S700. Full timing insurance isn't cheap!

We have full breakdown cover including continental recovery included and have had to use it in Spain this trip, when the rear wheel nuts came loose 5km into Spain on the AP 8. The Spanish Police were great to deal with.

Currently on the Mar Menor in Spain.

Our renewal is due at the end of this month.

Our renewal was due today with Comfort but had increased by about 15% from last year with no change to anything, as times are tough I had a ring round and found Adrian Flux double at £900 !! Caravan Club couldn't quote us as I have my 26 year old son as a named driver and they don't insure anyone under 30,Frank Pickles were about the same but Caravan Guard were £50 cheaper including continental cover and breakdown and what swung it for me is THEY ARE BASED IN YORKSHIRE !!!!!

Ours increased by 8% this year. (We had 2 continental and 1 UK breakdown in the 12 months and one of us reached 70). I do not consider this to be bad at all for full timing insurance).

Our van is 1992 Hymer S700 4600kg laden.

CIS CO OP insuranc thay cover ower 1986 ducato with full brake down cover no problem comfort would not insure it sad it was to old so even when i do get a newer one i wont use them been with coop for years:thumb:

comfort for my 19 year old Hymer, was £500 with no NCB son and son in law included. Both over 30. Neither of them have been near it.
