Hi all.
We are planning on going to the Black forest in August. Does anyone have any recommendations for a site please.

Sylvia Want. Sorry Sylvia, we can't recommend any sites, as we never use them. We do however use Stellplatz when in Germany, which are plentiful right throughout the country, just as Aire de Camping Cars are in France and Belgium.

If it's campsites you are after, then you will pay an awful lot more per night for the privilege.

Good luck with your search. (y)

Jock. :)

Camping Belchenblick at Staufen with a bar and cafe and a short walk into the beautiful town and transport links. When we stayed we were given a free transport pass for the Black Forest region by train or bus.

AND the wine festival at the beginning of August 🥂

I can recommend Camping Kirchzarten. Unfortunately their web site only seems to be in German (it didn't used to be?) My link goes to the Alan Rogers guide but you will also find it on Trip advisor.

We have just stayed at Camping Bankenhof next to Lake Titissee. Spent three nights there. Highly recommend.

Not quite in the Black Forest but we have stayed at ‘Camping Park Gohren’ outside the town of Langenargen (47°35’18.30″N 9°33’46.70″E). Lovely views of the lake and easy cycling around and about.

Another vote for Belchenblick at Stauffen. Terrific site with free entry to a huge open air pool just next door. The train travel (free, or almost free with your campsite fee) is very useful. You can take trains to Freiburg, and also into the German station (!) in Basel.
Stauffen is an interesting little town too.

Hi Sylvia,

We are currently staying in the south of the Black Forest in the Hochschwarz Camping site near Totdnau as it was the only campsite with space. It’s high in the mountains so very cool and surrounded by forest and the facilities are very clean. It has been very difficult finding availability around Lake Titisee so I imagine in August it will very busy. My advice is book as soon as you can.

I can second that - been going to that site since I was a child. Comes with free pass for travel into Freiburg

Lovely campsite in Schiltach which is a wonderful village.

https://campingplatz-am-neckar.de/ Just outside of the Black Forest, but we enjoyed it, we were right on the edge of the river, was staying just for two nights, ended up staying for 15 nights, some really good bike rides along the river too,

Campingplatz an der Friedensbrücke, Falltorstraße 4, 69151 Neckargemünd, Germany

Two more votes for Kirchzarten and Belchenblik.

Staff at both are extremely helpful and friendly.
