enough to know i shouldnt touch things i know nothing about ....
Hi, looking for a nice little aire, just past Rouen, with a park area close by for the grandchildren to play on (5 and 2 years old) before bedtime .... ( we may need to tire them out for bed .....) leaving the UK this coming Wednesday at midday ....

thanks in advance .....

Er, in which direction are you heading out of Rouen?

As Sedge asks, what direction. ??
Pont de L^Arche is a nice spot right on the Seine just south of Rouen and a lovely village.
Marbou, south of Chartes, is a great spot if you are heading down the N10 but will be at least another 90mins past rouen.

Travelled that route with our grandkids for the past 6 years so I did similar and know a few kid friendly stops plus all the McDonalds.

La Mailleraye-Sur- Seine is lovely and you can watch the barges on the river. It’s west of Rouen though, bit of a detour.
just realised you want a park, sorry, I don’t know about that, but there will be one in the town

Pont de L‘Arche is good choice.
Marboue a bit further though.
Both are favoured with me.
Both have water.

WE often stop at that aire in Montville, 20km north of Rouen. Nice little town, the aire has a borne, is next to a park and a river, Very pleasant. We meet my friend from Rouen here as I won't drive in Rouen any more!

This looks promising

Thanks everyone. Travelling from Rouen towards Caen. It doesnt matter which side of Rouen, though would prefer to be past there, just to cut down on travelling the next day.

Herouvillette just north of Caen is a lovely little picturesque village aire next to a little duck pond. Only 5 places if i remember correctly and no overflow as strict no parking signs it does get busy and cant remember any swings etc.
Closer to Rouen is Jumieges another free aire (or was) with a walk of about a kilometer to the seine where there is a ferry (not big enough to take a motorhome if i remember correctly) Loads of green area to run around.
Enjoy

Thanks, but I am actually travelling from Calais to Rouen, through Rouen and onto Caen (and eventually the Vendee) I was trying to break the journey up by staying just past Rouen on the first 'leg' of the journey. Its the first time taking the grandchildren away and we dont want to push their patience too far ...

Rugles aire C.C. 1319 , quite a bit farther on 60 miles past Rouen large aire free + free water
park for the kids just across walking bridge.

We often stop at Nonancourt, which has some beautiful grounds with a river and picnic tables.

Nonancourt is a worthy stop. If its full you can park outside the maire which is about 50 yards away. Seen a few Brits in there over the years

Thanks everyone. Just waiting to board the train. Montville is looking good at the moment, depends on traffic when we get off of course !!

Hi MisterB , just a thought , Montville it could be busy ,well worth it for the park/boating lake , ice cream kiosk plus small cafe , if it is, you could use Cleres as a back up ,about 5 miles back up the road on the D155 ,not much for the kids but nice town .

Thanks. There is a sports facility next door so plenty if overflow parking there from memory or even near the church just as you drive into the air.
Was hoping to find something a bit further on towards Caen, but Montville is a nice stopover for them ..... I hope !!!

Another vote for Montville. Stayed there last August.

No delays, everything working as it should on the tunnel. Now deep under the sea...

Parking for about 12 Motorhomes plus overspill fir about 30 just for overnight.

Glad you liked it
We stayed here a couple of years ago on the way home. It's a much better location for starting the holiday as it's about 2.5 hours drive from Calais, which is a bit too far away when coming home.

Thats just made my hit list. Cant believe i had never heard of it
For those who carry a putter and practice golf ball, the crazy golf is perfect. Next time we stay there I will make sure we have with us, we're not golfers but i do like a bit of crazy golf ...

It's an easy drive to Rouen, about 20 mins to pick up the A28, mainly through urban areas, though the Toll Rd towards Le Havre and Honfleur is prob a bit closer. I'm sure if I had a map it would have been easier ...

Small children and La Mailleraye-sur-Seine definitely don't mix.
Sheer drop into the river with no rails or barrier and no steps or slipway for several hundred metres.
Watched a young family there last year and had our hearts in our mouths at times. Fortunately the youngsters were very sensible and not charging about so all was OK.
Smashing aire, we will be there next week, but not for children.

Richard.
