they do say " there is no such thing as a daft question" or "all questions are easy if you know the answer" or "even if you think it is a daft question ask away as someone else is too embarrassed to ask but would also like to know the answer"
So having justified my lack of understanding can someone please explain the difference in listings between a new post and a recent post in simple terms.

A new post will be one that you haven't read the latest replies on. When you do the post will move to recent .

Once you have read a post you can't see it again until another reply is given.
Looking in recent posts the thread is visible but 'greyed' out. Click on it and its back on your screen.

Not sure that is right Sandra. I always go onto "recent" and pick up the threads where I haven't read the latest replies on. Never use the "new" button. But I am not sure what the difference actually is.

I am sure that @Jim will be along to tell us soon.
