Hi everyone. We became the proud owners of a new Bessacarr 442 last July and we are now converted to motorhoming after many years towing caravans. After a couple of shake down trips we set off to France and spent a wonderful summer circumnavigating that beautiful country. We are now planning to return to the Alps to try skiing from our home on wheels. Really looking forward to getting to know the forum.

We also just started motorhoming last year and skiing from it was one of the first things we did. Besse and Superbesse are ski resorts in the central massif right in the middle of France- closest slopes to the UK in fact. Worth a visit. Lovely high level cheap camping with hook up and facilities etc (aires style ) right at the foot of the slopes. The resort is function built and nothing special in fact quite tacky but the location is lovely on two lakes. Not a huge spread of slopes but very cheap lift passes compared to the rest of the alps and a nice place to try out motorhome skiing we found.
We are now exploring other skiing opportunities with the luxury of being able to drive anywhere. We are preferring non tourist spots favoured by locals. They are smaller and much much cheaper of course. May be a tiny resort with four runs for £5 lift pass for example.
We found the Tetri mountains in Poland a great cheap place to ski (Zakopane is the largest) Slovakia is nice too but a bit pricier. Central Italy promises to be good too (Appenines ) and the Abruzzo area but annoyingly last week they had to close due to 'too much snow' so we are pushing on down to Sicily for hopefully better weather and trying some skiing on mount Aetna .
Another good ski motorhome spot we found in the french alps Is Champ Du Moulin Velosc - a proper campsite with sauna too. We flew family and friends out to rent a couple of cabins they have there which worked out great Again close to slopes but on a gondola or shuttle I forget which.
That's Les deux Alps. More expensive but bigger and not too crowded.
Let us know where you find to sk and welcome to the forum.

Thank you everybody for your warm welcome.

Many thanks Jac Sprat for all those ideas. We are heading for Samoens initially as we have been there in the Summer and there is an excellent site at the base of the main lift. They also have units to rent so we might follow your lead and get family to join us.
