Rear view camera (1 Viewer)

In my contract with the dealership for my McLouis Fiat Ducato,back in October 21, I had ordered as an accessory a rear view camera at a cost of €450. I was convinced this would have included a screen as well,but the dealer is now telling me that it doesn’t and that I would have to pay a minimum of €640 extra to have a screen fitted. Maybe I’m mistaken but surely when you order a rear view camera on a new camper it should come together with a screen?

Most fits use the radio screen for reversing duty.

Are you sure it does not work on the radio head unit screen? Most do perhaps they think you want an extra monitor?

They were initially telling me it would come with the rear view mirror option but now they tell me that’s not possible. At the moment there is no radio screen in the van.

The dealer has just told me that all of last years Fiat Ducato consignments have arrived without rear view mirrors!

I would hold my ground! Very poor customer service for a new van purchase - of course adding a rear view mirror on a new van should include something you can see the rear view with! (I would suggest that is the view most reasonable people would think and likely the view of trading standards)

Here in Poland last week I had a new rear view dual camera, screen, cabling and installation for £500 all-in.

It was done by my local commercial garage.

Get it done as an after-market job when you take delivery, but maybe get McLouis to install the cabling if it is not already there.

Why did they even start the job if there was nothing to connect it too?

You need to tell them if there is no monitor to view the camera they should take it out and refund your €450 or you will put a solicitor on the case

Rear view camera monitor as there is a clip on monitor that fits over the rear view mirror which obviously can’t happen if there is no mirror

Thank you all! Finally sorted…..I think! After I made it known how aggrieved I was with the situation,dealer got back to me and said they would include a built in monitor in the dashboard if the rear view mirror monitor was not available.
