Vantage van conversion.
Does anyone have advice on which mud maps will fit the Fiat Ducato, that will stay on, when we acquired the motorhome it came with them but since then they have come off.

I spoke to our local North East Van and Truck company to try and order some more at over £100
Only to be told that they don't stay on because of the nature of where the motorhome goes i.e. across fields and uneven terrain.

I don't mind forking out for some more but not if they keep falling off, I have noticed when we go over speed bumps you can sometimes hear the front ones scrape but they are still on.
Look forward to your replies.
Mike and Nic.

What a load of rubbish.
At worst its only the 'free' end hitting the ground.
Unless the flaps are hard moulded plastic with no 'give' they will flex enough not to be ripped off.
It's rarely the mudflaps which get ripped off, it's the inadequate fixings and fixing points which aren't up to the job.

Reversing up to kerbs is the usual culprit, I suspect. Something us motorhomers do quite a lot when trying to park in places really only designed for cars. :D2

Thanks for the replies, the fixing brackets are still attached to the motorhome minus the mud flaps, do any of you have some pics of the DIY/Ebay jobbies? Looking for inspiration.
Thanks.

I was looking for those too, but on the advice of Towbars2Towcars I have stopped looking as they advised that the sweeping motion tends to through stones etcdirectly at the toad.

If this helps .... I purchased a made to measure mud flap skirt (6mm rubber) from a truck / commercial mud flap provider on line... £90.oo..
This was fitted under the van by way of an alloy angle bar , (B&Q) riveted to the underside / deck of the van positioned @ 12 inches from rear wheels. .... 3 down struts were fitted to give the rubber more rigidity.
It works really well .. & prevents road dirt from flicking up to the rear panel of the van ....
Had to take it off again as it was too low to the ground , but now looks & works well .
I think there's pictures on the thread " what have you done on yre vsn today ...
May be suitable for yre vsn ???

many many years! since I was a kid
spray brushes are ideal for keeping a towcar clean from dirty spray from the rear wheels. rear mudflaps, use truck mudflaps cut to size and bolted to a piece of aluminium or steel 50x50mm angle screwed to the underfloor

im a not so newbie
Have a look on eBay for the ones the use on rally cars.
Just buy the material it is super flexible and easy to cut to the shape you want.

I fitted spray suppression mat, it works extremely well, huge reduction in the road grime up the back of the MH and the front of the toad . I used a cardboard template before transferring the pattern onto the mat. Large penny washers with M6 SS nuts and bolts keep everything secure. Couple of hours work but well worth the effort.

This is the one I fitted to reduce dirt and spray onto towed car and rear panel, works well but I did leave original mud flaps in place directly behind rear wheels.
I needed to fabricate aluminium angle under rear panel for rigidity but fairly straightforward.
