Just picked up a 4 wheel Box trailer to pull behind my A Class, and i cant see it at all in my mirrror's

I Have a reverse camera already fitted, that doesnt work properly, possibly due to operator stupidity, but i am wondering on the practicalities of having it on all the while. Anyone done it, or am i better off buying a wireless one and being done with it.

As has been said many times on various threads avoid wire less and go for hard wired, I would recommend a two camera system.

What about one of those dual-angle cameras?

You could have one pointing down at the trailer and the other pointing at the road to act as a rear view mirror?

I have a reversing camera which was rendered largely useless owing to fitting a back box to the bike rack when all I could see was the backbox. I just angled it further up to miss the box and wired it so it was on all the time the ignition was, so it acts as a reasonable rear view camera while still having some effectiveness as a reversing camera, though obviously cannot see close up to the rear bumper. To do that would need a camera low down, possibly the easiest would be on the bottom of the back box, though that would mainly show the spare wheel fitted there.

I fitted a twin-lens camera, as shown by @RogerThat together with a 7" monitor just so I could reverse my 1te covered trailer more easily. I have one lens pointing straight down towards the towing hitch, making coupling up a doddle and the other is used in place of a rear-view mirror. If I can find the details of the seller I will post again.

I have a twin lens camera , I have a constant view of the rear , when I engage reverse gear it changes to the camera that is facing down to the bumper , I wouldn’t be without it

As for camera`s Google DRW electronics?.

@PeteH beat me to it. I have checked the bill I received and the price is still the same 2+ years later. http://rearviewsystems.drwelectronics.com/rvs11.html is the link to the one I fitted. The only problem I had was finding a route through from the rear to the dashboard without taking the cables outside. I have fitted an on/off switch so I can have the camera available on rear view when towing.

My dual function camera worked via an earth wire connected to the reverse switch.
Disconnect the wire and it becomes full time.

I couldn't see my trailer either except when negotiating roundabouts.
I have fitted digital bamboo sticks at each rear corner with a flag on top for £1.20.
Fitted in minutes, they never go faulty or need cleaning.

just fitted this to replace old failed camera, sadly it was on different frequency so needed to fit monitor too - works well and for wireless a good price

I'm with you, but I'd add that I don't really see the point of being able to see a trailer in your internal mirror or camera - it's seeing the back corners of the trailer in the door mirrors down the side of the vehicle that I like, make sure the trailer is behaving itself and tracking true. Also much easier for reversing.

Stalk lights are great if they'll make it wide enough, see the back corners in the dark as well.

Exactly why I fitted them. (y) When pulling a motorbike on a trailer I have one on the rear of the bike so that I know the tie-downs haven't come adrift and it's about to fall over.

As I do not tow just need to see with/without box for reversing or when bike/s on the on-board?
