Am having a Mercedes sprinter van medium wheelbase, high top converted.
Is the procedure to re-register as a campervan likely to be difficult. Thanks, steve

No, but you won't get it registered as a campervan/motorhome, it'll end up as a 'van with windows'.

It may still be possible but you will have to jump through lots of hoops and still not very likely.

There is a very specific list of features that the converted van must have to even be considered for change of use and on the V5. Expect a battle to get it changed though

Unless it practically mirrors a commercial conversion it will be classed as a "van with windows"
Got to have X number of windows, graphics, possibly an awning on the outside.
It has to look like a motorhome/camper on the outside.
There's a list of requirements for the inside.

I was very lucky and got this changed before the rules changed, but there was loads abusing the system and photographing the inside of other vans and stuff then bragging about it on social media, as if no one at DVLA would see it.

Is it so important?
Does it increase the value of a van by that much?

Many conversations seem to be in the stealth mode

I'm not sure but I think that having it classified as a 'van with windows' rather than a 'van' could make insurance etc cheaper.

ANPR and speed cameras can be an issue for some, Van and Motorcaravan have different speed limits, van with windows used as Motorcaravan may be perceived as as Van
