MH
just looking
Exp
I'm a newbie
hello
The MH I’m looking at is 1990 Peugeot wentworth 1.9 TD and done 45,000 miles.
I asked here before and was told these were very well made before swift bought them.
It is my first MH and a good mate who knows mechanics checked it over and it is sound underneath and mechanically apart from will need new exhaust in a year, and new injectors

Issue with either clutch or gearbox, not sure which at moment. I understand gearboxes are hard to get hold of for this?

My question is about the 1.9 engine which my mate is concerned is not powerful enough and may struggle up hills etc.

Would like your input re this please

We loved our Wentworth. Gearbox, check out the pug forums and fiat forums to check wether fifth gear was an add on for this year as they need tlc and an over full gearbox oil level as fifth is stuck out and gets dry.
Yes 1.9 even the turbo one will struggle on hills. We had a 54 plate 2.8hdi and it was brilliant.

Have a damp check carried out. Most Autocruise of that year had severe water ingress through the exterior locker door seals. This caused problems with the floors.

Don't forget how old it is some makes are very good cars but at 20 years old you would expect a few problems and performance not as good as a newer one. It is a low mileage but that does not necessarily mean less wear.

We had an Autocruise Starfire with 1.9 t Peugeot engine and did find it a bit underpowered and we also had a problem with the clutch.
If left for a couple of weeks the clutch would not release and I found the cause of this was the cowl drain pipe inside the engine compartment directed onto the bell housing, I redirected it and that sorted the problem.
