I have a 709F and the bathroom door is closed and won't open. Please does anyone know how it could be opened without breaking the door?

I think there is a small screw which holds the handle on the spindle which requires a very small allen key.
Once the chrime handle is off you can grip the square bar with pliers and twist to open the door.
Probably the springs inside the very cheaply made lock have gone. If you do a search on here I am sure you will find a thread where I gave the details of a locksmith who will fix it for £10 plus PP if it is the spring thats gone.

Thanks for replying so quickly Makems. The door closed OK. There's a long rod top to bottom on the inside. The bottom of the door comes away (when pressing the knob) but the top is stuck fast.

If only I were inside CWH!

Thanks again.

That push button lock is similar to the one on our wardrobe - I think they unscrew allowing access to the mechanism which controls the vertical locking rod.

Thanks very much MH55FUN - I'll check to see if the button will pop out - perhaps I should find a locksmith in case I break the door.

nowhere near long enough
Lean hard on the topof the door and wigle the knob in and out it may just release the top hook. Why Rapido persist in using this door locking mechanism is beyond comprehension as they are a real load of rubbish.

I took the two long rods off and put a mangnetic catch on instead

We have same mechanism on wardrobe doors, they get stuck sometimes when something falls against the little hook. Technician at dealers showed us how to lean against the offending area & it worked for us too. Horrid things. Wouldn't want them on an important door like a bathroom!

Thank you for posting again CWH. You're right, always been unsatisfactory but I didn't know what to do. Perhaps a magnetic catch is the answer. Thanks again. I'm absolutely amazed at how helpful everyone's been.
