Its been over 3 yrs since fitting this rack and in that time Fiamma have seen the error of their design and changed it for more stability.
Here is the new model and you should see that the winding parts have been moved as far apart as possible and the reels are now shrouded too.
The plastic covers just don't fair well at all outdoors in all weathers so I have just obtained new ones for mine for surprisingly under £20 delivered. Replacing them means dismantling anyway so I though while I'm at it I'll move my reels outboard and move the webbings.

Straighten out the indents so the roller will slide along the shaft

Rollers relocated and now just secured from sliding by a cable tie either side. New covers fitted

Much better the tapes show where they were

Right I've gone a bit further stripped and re engineered parts so I could get plastic 36mm OD plumbing waste on the shaft and still be able to reassemble it
Much better than cable ties

Some years ago I bought a "Taylormade" Fiamma bike rack cover only to discover that because of the position of the winding webbings that it would not fit as intended. I've just dug the cover out and I believe my modification will now afford it's use BONUS (y)
