Hi all

Ive read on various Rapido forums of people that have placed orders back in September for New Motorhomes and waiting until March next year for delivery perhaps this is because they want a New reg or indeed it may take that long for the individual orders to be built at the Rapido factory ? I know I waited for our Swift for 5 x months but that was in part due to the availability of the New 9 Speed Auto box causing some delay.

We are due to view a Dealer order of a Rapido 896F due to arrive with them in November and I was wondering whether anyone has any idea whether this Pandemic will or has impacted on New Motorhomes coming out of the Rapido factory ?? or has this Motorhome been built waiting to be shipped ?

Apologies I have no idea how long it takes for say an A Class to be built in the factory and whether they adjust build type to firm orders. ?

TIA for any info / Knowledge or opinions

How on earth did they manage that  :ROFLMAO:

It looks like there's a Dog laying on the dashboard :rolleyes::whistle:

Because of the lockdowns I fully expect lead times to slip considerably. IF rapido can open their factory, how many workers will be off sick? Is motorhome building essential work to the french government?

Have a look at Brownhills site, even if not buying from them it shows due date for stock. Don’t hold your breath. Remember there are a lot of back orders due to covid

Rejected the Swift it kept breaking down and wasn't happy with build quality so now choosing a replacement and spending more money in the.process lol

Thanks its the same at Highbridge they have due dates on there web site and thats where we will be viewing one they have on order 👍

To give you an idea, we have a 68 plate Rapido, all before Covid, so, "normal delivery" times. We ordered at NEC in October 2017, for March 2018 delivery. It eventually arrived July 2018. Worth the wait though.

Maybe with the new lockdown delayed deliveries could be a plus as one will not be able to use a new MH for much in the foreseeable future and meanwhile one's money is still in one's own bank/investments.

the issue then being the dealer going bust while you wait losing your deposit and having to reorder the van with another dealer

We ordered our new Rapido at the February NEC show it arrived at Brownhills on that fatefully day "23rd March" and there it sat until the 10th June when we were allowed out to play again.

Brownhills had pre-ordered 3 x 886f's, plus a range of other models, spec'd to what UK buyers normally require (I would assume Highbridge do similar). We chose one of them. If we'd wanted other options we'd have had to wait until the next delivery of chassis from Fiat (for the 2021 models) as all the 2020 RHD chassis had been allocated to orders.

As stated earlier, you won't be disappointed with the van

Thanks for your response (y) Highbridge have pre ordered quite a few Rapido A class's and Vans all due either this month or in December all going well.
We are so looking forward to picking it up after the year weve had with our Brand New Swift which was rejected after letting us down on a few occasions and ive got to say the build quality was shabby to say the least, we are spending more money but see this has an opportunity to buy a better built / quality Motorhome (y)

There is no comparison between the build quality of the Rapido and the Swift. I speak from experience as our last MH was a Swift although not the Lemon you seem to have got lumbered with.

Only downside of the Rapido build quality is that they use heavier duty timber/boards throughout they weigh heavier than the stuff Swift use. Yours is the longer version of mine, but on the same chassis (3650kg). I found with the van loaded for a weekend away, wife and dog on board, we weighed in at 3620kg. that's very little flexibility. I opted to uprate mine to 3700kg from the registered 3500kg to keep it legal it was only a paperwork exercise using SV Tech. You might want to check what weight the van is registered on the V5 at (box "Y" Revenue weight) and consider doing similar. There's threads on here about up-plating motorhomes.

Lastly: If you do Facebook sign up to the Rapido UK owners group page.
