Bit of a Rant at the Camping & Caravan Club want to book a night away this weekend and electric pitches have to be minimum two nights (why) for one night quite happy on a Grass pitch but since the facilities are closed how come a single person pays £11.60 but as there are two of us and a child its £29 for the same patch of Grass with no facilities.

Normally wouldn't mind if we were to use the toilets and showers would expect to pay more but seems a bit off at the moment.

I suppose the argument would be: the more people the more resources you're using. Even though you're using your van's facilities, you're still potentially using their water and electricity, and dumping the grey and black waste for four, not two, people. Anyway, capitalism rules!

Yep now I've checked we paid £125 odd for four nights for a couple and van on a service pitch this week. The loos were open with maximum access of 6 at a time. All very well managed too.

Can't see what your complaint is, the C&CC have always charged per person plus pitch fee for electricity. It is no different than going to a site that charges a flat rate for a Motorhome plus 2 persons plus electricity, usually works out the about the same.

I'm a bit peeved with the CMC charging the usual price when no facilities are open. They must be saving money on water, and cleaning.

My complaint is the facilities are closed we are on grass only so no electric and it’s 3 times as much for a family of three so not using anything except space and waste but not 3 times the amount.

Comparing with the cost of alternative accommodation, I think camping fees are jolly cheap.
At the end of the day, market forces (supply & demand) will determine the going rate.
If you don't like the price, take your custom elsewhere.

Given the Covid restrictions I think they're going above and beyond their usual cleaning regime and other duties. The facilities were open for us but they were working a lot harder on checking the usual queues of folk at opening time. I was quite happy with the arrangements.

I was just reading about someone who has booked a holiday in August for 2 adults and 2 children and it’s costing over £4000.
Not to some exotic far-flung destination - they are going to Butlins Minehead 🤣

They still have staff and all the other associated costs of running their business I suspect the amount of money involved you not paying for certain facilities will be less than you imagine.

I have just payed £70.48 for 3 nights at CMC site 2 people, 2 dogs and electric. I used to get upset about site costs some quote a fee per pitch some per pitch plus electric plus per person, plus per dog, I site charges £3 per night per dog, our dogs are very small but cost the same on site as a rottweiler. Now I just add it all up and if it's OK I book, if not I look else where

Why do you need to pay for additional people?

You don't need to, you could keep your money in your pocket.

As for the charge per person, look at it from a solo persons point of view. Why should I pay the same as a family of 4. Shouldn't I get a discount because I use less water, electric and waste disposal. I also don't generate as much rubbish.

I never complain about a companies prices if they are clear up front. If I don't like the price I simply don't use them.

Plenty of CL's around charging £10-£14 per night ALL in per vehicle with no per person charges.

We are charging the same rate as last year, £12 a night. Stop using the large sites who have hiked up site fees and support the all the CL type sites or the prices will keep rocketing.

Don’t tell them that, it’s nice and peaceful on the cl sites. Haha

We are in Northumberland on a CL at £12 per night. By the time we get home we will have used 3 CLs and 2 CMC sites at High Onn and Englethwaite Hall. None of them have toilets or showers and are good value because we are not paying for facilities we don’t use. Just a matter of choosing sites that suit our needs.

This is the same organisation that kept Forestry Commission sites with no facilities closed for the whole of last year for 'hygiene' reasons. We had a week at Setthorns last week and were unable to pay stay late as it 'wasn't allowed under present circumstances'. This was despite there being a surprising number of empty pitches of all type.
Perhaps the CCC has had a management transplant from the CAMC

Ah, well, Janice, there's a charge for your imaginary friend, who may put in an appearance at Butlins; you know, 'God be in Minehead' ... :ROFLMAO:
