On our travels recently our Fresh water feed pipe starting leaking and needed fixing, as you may be aware WISSEL usually does work on our van but I know he doesn’t have a lift to get under the van, so I contacted a couple of Motorhome engineers through the Approved Workshop Scheme (AWS) recommended by both clubs.
The first guy in Aberdeen didn’t have a lift so no joy but then I approached the 2nd firm C&S Caravan Services Ltd of Accrington.
I contacted them through their website and they responded the following morning, asking what make of Van and who the convertor was, then they asked for a Photo before agreeing to book it in.
They wanted the van for 8.30am and I duly arrived and I walked an engineer through the problem and he promised to sort it, It was suggested that, as they don’t have a waiting room I visit a local shopping Mill where I could get breakfast and they would call me asap.
4 hours later I get a call from another engineer who had ‘just looked at the van’ and he said they cannot work on the van because it’s not a made by a standard manufacturer, (what’s one of them?) I went back and I was amazed at his comments, he sees loads of Converted vans and they are not done to any standard, I had to explain to him that this is not a Self build, he went on about all the systems are connected and that they could not guarantee the work, (it’s only replacing a 5ft piece of pipe). I could not get it into his head that there is no gas and the Wallas heater hob has no connections to the water system so no danger to life or limb but it was obvious that he had not even looked at the leaking pipe. Then he lied saying that as AWS guarantee their work he could not do it.
I was fuming, just because my van was not made by Bailey or Adria etc. does that make it any less of a van? Many of the vans I have been in are all gimmicks, style over substance and very overpriced.
There is nothing on C&S website to say they will not work on Unique vans though they say that they have worked on Horse Boxes and Butty Vans !

so Should I complain about their crap service or should I just try and find someone else local?
P.S. I don’t recommend anyone uses them.
