We was going down to Rannoch Station a couple of years ago but the council were preparing to dig the road up and would have been stuck there for over a week, so slept at the side of the river, lovely quiet spot, we will get all the way there one day,

Rannoch Station, some evening images.

Brilliant. What memories!
In the 70's I was there many Easter times helping with a schools 'Adventure Training'.
I remember that the station was manned by a women whoose name I think was Williams who lived there.. Also party nights in The Moor of Rannock Hotel run by a tall hairy dressed scotsman I think called Alasdair or somethink similar; expert stalker and fly fisherman.
( made his own flys)
I remember the local council dustcart turning up one lunchtime. The 4 of them got out their musical instruments and played for hours; as the various whiskys flowed.
Happy days!! Must get my Diary and photos out.
Magic Highlands at Easter before the awful klegs hatched.

Thank you, folks. Great to read your recollections. I overnighted by the bridge just back down the road at 56.685713, -4.54465.

I'm reminded now of a laddish book I read recently and found very amusing - much of it is set on the West Highland Way: The Hills are Stuffed with Swedish Girls. (It was highly recommended in the Mountain Coffee Company's good bookshop and café at Gairloch).
