OK, so I've had a Rapido 9095 for 7 years and been very happy with it, except that the ride is a bit hard, and there is quite a bit of cab noise - rattles, squeaks, general road noise. Is this the case for all MHs, or are some better than others? Have things improved with later models? Is it a question of 'you get what you pay for'? Any suggestions for what to buy next will be welcome.

If you get rid of the main noise (engines about 36ft behind) you just start listening for the smaller noises , eg blinds tapping or glasses tinkling , best fix in all cases turn up the radio (y):D JMHO

Rapido V68 Van Conversion
Exp
Since 2009
We've had a 2004 coach-built Rapido (used); a 2010 Chausson coach-built (from new) and a 2016 Rapido van conversion (from new).

They have all been relatively noisy from my perspective, but I am extremely sensitive to any excessive sound or rattles. And yes, the rear suspension is harsh too.

The brakes and steering have been much better in the newer vans compared with the older model (brakes especially).

Have pretty much learned to live with it as far as possible. I am sure some will say their vans are quiet... maybe some are? But Rapido is not exactly a budget brand. ;)

We have just purchased a Rapido 996 and very pleased with it but yes it is noisy when on the move. Hubby has slow worked his way around it trying to sound proof areas but another noise just pops up somewhere else! Was really surprised as is 11 years younger than previous vehicle (Autotrail Scout)and we thought that later vehicles would be quieter (n)

Full air Suspension would dramatically improve ride quality and help even out the bumps in the road, which in turn would help reduce rattles

We have a Carthago and to be fair it really is as quiet as can be on the road. No noise from rattles or furniture. The builders really do seem to have added rubber strips everywhere that might rattle and some other places besides.

Last A class was a Hymer Exsis i678 that was fairly quiet a lot better than the previous low profile Hymer. Now have a Hymer B678 DL generally a lot quieter than the Exsis but a fair bit more chassis crashing and banging on rough roads as this one is on the 4.5t maxi chassis.

Having had a couple of Burstner A classes, which I thought were reasonably quiet, we have this year changed to a Carthago.
What can I say, it is so quiet its unbelieveable, almost like driving a modern car.

Our Carthago with full VB air suspension is quiet enough to have a normal volume conversation with the OH whilst driving. I know, I know, there are advantages and disadvantages :D2.

Got to say our Rapidly A class is very noisy on poor roads, dash area very badly put together, have fitted bits of foam , slightly better but still needs work . Nice Mercedes dashboard spoiled by rubbish trim, otherwise the rest of it well put together.

We put heavy duty front springs on our Kontiki and it made a big difference, plus getting the tyre pressures right really made for a much more comfortable and quieter ride.

Our Pilote P650GJ is extremely quiet. I think we've got the packing and soundproofing just right. When we took it back to Hayes for something and Chris took it out he said it was the quietest van he's been in - and they've sold a few! We can talk normally and were only saying today how quiet the engine is, ie we can't hear it :D

We tend to muffle the hot plate and cooker all the glasses and crockery etc, so it's not that noisy at all and I've not had to raise my voice to speak to Steve either. Maybe muffling is the way to go?

Elaine uses what look like plate dollies to separate the crockery, direct from Lakeland and they work. We also take out the oven shelf prior to moving and with the VB air assist in the rear the ride is good. We can easily chat to each other without shouting when cruising at 70 on the motorway. I wouldn't say our Rapido A class was noisy as the insulation appears to be very good with only above average road noise coming through on rough finished roads. The cutlery still rattles on bumpy roads but I am learning to live with it. Could be worse in that the wine bottles were clinking against each other but again I have found by really jamming copious bottles into the wine fridge stops this dangerous condition from occurring. :D

Neoprene laptop sleeves. From eBay or the Pound Shop, absolutely brilliant for silencing oven shelves!

Our Adria Coral Supreme 680ST is very quiet...I pack carefully....if there's a rattle I have to get up and go find and stop it. We chat in normal tones....we notice the difference, though, in road noise between here and France....French road noise is sooooooooooo much less than in the UK. It's the first thing we notice when we leave the station at Folkestone on the way home:cry::eek:

People go over the top trying to pack things so they don't rattle we used to do it. Don't bother now just throw everything in, a few rattles for the first couple of miles then every settles in its natural place and no more rattles.

I think it's a Pilote-thing Diane. Our previous Autotrail was terrible for internal noises (we had to fit pieces of sponge between the doors, cupboards, blinds and the microwave housing) but there is nothing in the Pilote.

We've already saved a whole load of money as we no longer need a tub of paracetamol for our MoHo adventures.(y)

I think ours is pretty quiet (Rapido 9090) as long as we stow everything properly and use tea towels in the oven and cutlery draw. There aren't any rattles and we certainly don't need to raise our voices to have a conversation.

The Eldiss Majestic we very very briefly owned before realising our mistake was terrible. It sounded like it was shaking itself apart at anything more than 40mph.

I guess everyone's different. Quiet enough and not a problem to one person might be unbearably loud to someone else.
