Don't want to p!ss on your bonfire, but decent bolt coppers would have it off in 10 seconds.

Good idea but put something bright red or yellow round the chain.
If Johnny thieving bast@rd decides not to see it it's bound to bend the suspension strut when he shoots off.
Just a thought.

If I did that I would wreck me van, I manage to tow a caravan away with a wheel clamp on.

I rode off on my Suzuki Bergmann with an Oxford revolver bike lock through the front wheel.
Forgot it was there, honest.

Anything is better then nothing, but gone in 60 seconds with an angle grinder...

Something yellow on it may make them feel it’s hardened steel...

its for a quickness when leaving for a while when we are visiting places and yes can be cut off with bolt cutters or angle grinder but that would mean noise and possibility of being seen, and with other measures stop a casual thief, not much will stop a determined gang stealing it

Surely the immobiliser works just as well for that.

having seen how quick transits and some others with imobilisers can be stolen i am not so sure

Crumbs ..... I tend to be paranoid ... now I'm treble paranoid.. :(

Is the situation now out there really this bad? (This is a serious question.)

The other side of the coin: we've caravanned & motorhomed for 40+ years and have never used anything more than came with the vehicles. On sites I have never put anything away overnight or when out for the day. My daughter had some jeans stolen off the washing line and at the same time we lost the booze box stored under the caravan when on a site in the Loire valley - that's all. Even that was apparently kids from the local village.
