We are planning a trip to the French Alps for a month, late July/early August, thinking about taking in the Queyras area. So, looking for suggestions etc, is it heaving in the summer, we're hoping to avoid the masses in the Vanoise and go somewhere a bit quieter, also the peaks are lower and are trekkable with a dog.
Planning on municipal sites/aires and maybe some wilding. do we need to book sites?
I've been to the Ecrins a couple of times climbing when I was younger, but that was a long time ago and things change, and we have a dog which is a no no in the National Park
Also, I gather that the Chambon Tunnel is now open, so we'd like to overnight at the Col du Lauteret, can we stay there with a dog? Campercontact suggests it ok, campingcarinfo says dogs interdit. Although it's outside the core zone, it is very close to a nature reserve which is definitely a no dog zone.
Thanks
Andy
