Hi all, we have an Elddis 115, 2019 vintage with black streaks down the wall under the bathroom sink shelf and a kind of black powder gathering on the shower tray below it. I've realised that the shelf has no sealant between it and the wall allowing water to run behind it. So, I'm thinking this could be the shelf rotting and could potentially be a warranty claim if sealant should have been applied. Now wondering if other Elddis vans have sealant or are they all the same. Thanks for any info.

I've just checked mine, same van similar vintage. It's immaculate. No streaking, no mould. And no sealant. Also no gap. I know what you mean, that shelf can be swimming in water, just from general usage of the taps. We have never used it for a shower though. Are you sure it is not a problem with the tap connections ? It would take a lot of water over a long period to rot that shelf.

I may run some sealant over it, next time i have a sealant gun out, just to be sure.

Ours is a 2013 Autoquest 175 and when I bought ours (secondhand) I noted that there was no sealant between the bathroom sink and the wall, so I ran a bead of clear sealant along it and down the sides.
We have a normal type sink shape rather than the stand-alone one that looks like a Pyrex casserole dish. :whistle2:

Thank you all for the prompt replies. It seems then that "no sealant" is the norm. I've taken the underneath shelf off and the pipe covers and there are no leaks from the pipes. The good news is there is no rot on the underneath shelf so hopefully that applies to the top shelf too. For now I'll clean it up and try to get some sealant in. May be tricky as the sink and taps are very close to the wall. Thanks again.

Good luck with a warranty claim with an Elddis, our at three and a half years old the whole nearside began to come away between the wall and the right angle side of the wardrobe/ toilet wall you could get your finger in the gap, they said no its out of warranty it obviously had not been put together properly?/

New to motorhomes, had a camper van before this.
When we collected ours we noticed the lack of sealant and had the dealer seal it as part of the pdi. However, 3 years on I’m going to have to re-do it as the shelf has come away from the wall😳

I'm hopeful it won't come to a warranty claim, it seems from reading this forum for the last 11 years that all the manufacturers are the same when it comes to a claim.

Other than that and a failed water pump that I’ve just replaced, the van has been problem free, so I think we actually got one of the good ones!

To be fair to my post after some discussion Elddis collected my van and took it back to their factory and made a very good job of the repair.

Well that's heartening news. Perhaps they're not as bad as they're painted 🙂
