The Queensbury Bay site is a member of the Verdant Leisure group. It is a few miles west of Gretna Green on the Solway Firth next door to the village of Powfoot.. We stopped for a few nights on our way further north in Scotland. We got a semi serviced pitch offering EHU and water but no grey waste drainage. A very good outlook, being 50 yards from the waterline of the Solway Firth. The site has a new bar / restaurant which is very smart.
This is advertised as a premier site of the Verdant group. The facilities for chemical waste disposal are primitive. That is the kindest thing I can say. Essentially a domestic WC boxed in against the wall of a sales office. Usable but disappointing. Nowhere could I find the grey waste disposal point, so I asked at the reception. 'You've got to use the chemical waste point' I was told. 'How do I empty my Wastemaster into something that is a couple of feet off the ground?' I asked. 'Don't know' was the reply and the end of the conversation. The answer is to stand on the boxing surrounding the WC and heave the Wastemaster up, and then manoeuvre it so you can tip its contents down the WC. The two photos attached demonstrate the process. I am fortunate to be fit and strong and able to do this. Others will not be. It is dangerous and a disgrace. Avoid!
Verdant Leisure is all about flogging smart and expensive lodges on their sites. Caravans and motorhomes are just for show to get you on site. We shall not return and it remains to be seen how much interest I can maintain to leave negative feedback in various places. Any suggestions?
