Hi All
I have a bit of a problem!
When I picked up the van from the dealer there was an issues with the anti frost valve which meant that if the weather got cold it wouldn’t automatically dump the water from the tank.
So the dealer fitted a new one and we went away for one night. As we were setting up we put the pump on for fresh water and it just poured out of what seems to be an overflow pipe under the wheel arch. Anyway called the dealer and he advised that the valve fitted hadn’t been turned to the correct position so I turned it and all was fine.
Just picked up the van to prepare for another trip and the same thing is happening but checked the valve switch and seems to be correct!
Hope someone out there understands what I’m talking about (I’m not sure I do)!

Which one does it look like?

The one with the yellow handle (Manual) is open when it is pointing up and will also open if you press it down.

The other one is the automatic one - I have never had a van with one of these but understand they are not very accurate as to when they dump water and owners often lock them off with a peg.

I hope that helps. (y)

Thanks for coming back so quickly.

It’s the automatic type but what I don’t understand is that the position hasn’t changed? (Picture attached).
There is a button on the base of the unit should this be in or out?
Thanks

Button in - The knob on top triggers a manual drain - this might help:

If the weather has been cold since your return home
the frost protection dump valve may have operated and thus when you fill up with water it runs out.
In that case the auto dump just needs resetting

I’ll reset when I get home hopefully that will fix it. I don’t think it’s been that cold but I get the feeling these units are not that reliable!
Thanks all

Great
if the temp drops below about 8 degrees that can trigger the dump valves
even if you have drained the system. So when you fill up
the water runs out the dump valve as the boiler fills
Always remember to check it's closed
Ya owe us a pint
lol

8 degrees!! I will be constantly pressing the button in!!::bigsmile:

Yes if ever I meet up with any of you the beers are on me! Although (Duck Truck) I notice you are from Yorkshire so I'm guessing you will want me to post you some sort of beer token!!::bigsmile:

Its funny because when I got the grand tour from the dealer because the unit was faulty its the only thing he didn't really explain to me!
Hey ho you live and learn!

Thanks

No problems
If we are away in cold weather and the heating is on we peg the dump valve
REMEMBER TO TAKE THE PEG OFF when you turn off the heating
As for the tokens put them all on a pallet and ship them to us

Which is exactly why the automatic thing was replaced with a manual one about 20 minutes after we bought the van!!!!
