In the summer we are coming back from Spain arriving in the Uk on a Tuesday at 3pm UK time ish, we are holidaying in France then planning to spend a couple of days in Spain Pamplona area then to Santander before boarding the 24 hour ferry.

Can anyone confirm the earliest time/date I can give the tapeworm and the latest?

I have emailed a vet in spain via google translate but got a very odd and expensive price. So I think I would just rather get the treatment in France where I can at least speak a little french.

Is the earliest time Thursday after 3pm or Friday after 3pm?

cheers

The situation is between 24 hours and 5 days before you travel. There will be plenty of recommendations on here shortly. We've only used one vet last year and it was about €25 but if you've the time, shop around.
If too close to the minimum period, it may prevent you getting an earlier crossing in case you fancy one. We usually book around 01.00 but travel about 20.00 at no extra cost

Getting better month by month.
As the earliest is 5 days before you enter the UK it is Thurs after 3 PM according to the info on the link @big map posted, but I always thought it was before travelling to the UK which would make it Wed.

Thanks!

That will make life much easier as we won't leave France until the Friday morning! So will do it then!

The spanish vet wants to do an external wormer with pipettes, little bottles with a drug inside, and we put it in the dog skin on the neck?? I presume they must think this is the tick treatment that is no longer required!! I may stick to a recommended vet in France if I can do it after 3pm on Thursday!

It says on the guidance "before you enter the UK"
The piece underneath regarding short trips is interesting, I thought a short weekend would be out of the question as we have a dog. My reading of this means that we could take him

Apparently it is before ARRIVAL in the Uk but I don't want to leave it to late i.e. the monday morning which would be possible.
@big map I have heard you can get in done in the UK before travelling out if just a short stop!

Calling in at a vet in France at about 3 pm is the best time. Village vets often have "open surgery" . You don't need an appointment, just sit and wait your turn.
French vets often charge extra for Saturday treatments so avoid that if you can.

There's a really comprehensive map of French vets somewhere on Fun. I found this one https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/v...I&ll=51.23193198969572,3.5061053515623826&z=5
