We usually overnight at Canterbury P&R before crossing to France.

However, this November, we have an early morning crossing booked. Rather than drive from Canterbury we would like a Pub stop nearer to the Tunnel. The potential problem is we will be towing our scooter on a trailer.

Has anyone used a Pub stop, near the tunnel, with a trailer or can anyone recommend a Pub that might be suitable, parking wise, that we could ring and ask?

We always use The Drum Inn at Stanford. Has electric hook up and shower block , good restaurant. Tunnel is next exit so about 10mins from unhooking electric to reaching the tunnel
note the entrance to part of the site has steep slope but have been there when people have had trailer with Car on attached to van. Worth checking the field entrance may be easier on the other side

We use the Drum Inn regularly and find it very convenient. Not so much a pub stop rather a pub with a campsite attached. Great food and great beer and only 5 minutes from the tunnel.
Downside is that they charge £20 a night for the pitch plus a fiver for EHU wether you use the pub or not

Drum in is costly for what they offer in my opinion. Tried it once.
Couldn't agree more but very convenient. £20 is easily lost in the cost of a 3 month trip around Europe :giggle:

We just cross late night now. Stay for free, and less stress. I think £20 for the night, extra for their shower, costly, and not great food. But it has been a few years.

Stayed at the Drum Inn 2 years ago, lovely pub but expensive, especially when you grind 6 mm off your brand new bike rack going up the slope

the year before we stayed at the Valiant Sailor, free to stay, a dam good pint and a lovely sunday lunch

I know which i'll stay at in future ;)

The Doghouse at Smeeth. Stayed twice. Free and very pleasant night.

The Valiant Sailor is good and if you have time the Battle of Britain memorial is a couple of minutes walk away.

Don’t try the Master Brewer at Folkestone if you have a trailer . The car park is not large

Plenty of room for trailer at the dog house as its part of a complex.
Message Claire first though.

The Doghouse for us too, stayed a couple of times. Great pub, delicious food and even better music. It's a winner for us 👍

We contacted The Dog House today but were informed that they are not open on a Sunday evening, only lunchtime, so will not accept overnight stays on a Sunday.

Hope this info is useful to other travellers.

Just to complete this, we have now booked The Drum Inn Camp site, referred to above.

For anyone interested they do not serve meals after 5:00pm on a Sunday. Looks like a stop on the way over for the last British Sunday lunch for a while, then a quiet evening before an early train through the Tunnel.

I’m just about bearing up under the strain. :giggle:
