I think I've read every post on Proplates now, but yet to find one where someone has experience of fitting them to the sliding door ?

Plenty of posts out there for cab doors and rear barn doors, but has anyone tackled the big whoosh/bang door yet?

Easy to fit on the sliding door 👍
I've fitted them on all 4 doors.
2xcab, 1x sliding and 1x rear
I'll take a photo tomorrow

Not really into deadlocks. Just a view, but they seem a bit of an expensive way of not stopping a determined thief, who will just use a plastic window to get in…and I don’t want yet another key 😁.
Pro plates strike me as a cheap, simple deterrent, along with Growler and Strikeback.
I have deadlocks on all doors, and a proplate on the drivers door, the only one with a keyhole?!
That’s fine as long as you have factory fitted deadlocks I believe. If you don’t (like me, as I have an Adria and it’s not a UK spec van], you need them on all doors I understand.

Thanks ! That would be helpful 👍

The Deadlocks are external opening only, on each individual door, no electronic’s etc. I don’t believe Proplates would have stopped this type of entry…….or am I wrong? Less than 2 minutes to get in, Growler frightened them off.

Agreed, if thieves want your contents then the windows are are weak point. We have extra protection on them to try to help. However, climbing through a window to try to steal a van with Deadlocks on all the doors isn’t the most attractive way, for a thief, to steal a van.

Each to their own - I'm not trying to prevent the van being stolen with Proplates - the Growler and Strikeback does that far more effectively than any physical lock ever will do.

Its about deterring the casual thief armed with a screwdriver when I'm not in the van, who doesn't realise what the blue flashing LED's mean, and damages the door before finding out. I'm sure deadlocks would also deter the same casual thief, but cost many times more and involve cutting holes in the van

It was reasonably straightforward iirc.
Take off sliding door inner lining to access the fixing bolts.
Access was awkward iirc. I dropped the fixing bolts into the door inner when I was reattaching the bolts.
They were a pig to recover

👍 Thanks - sounds like the sliding door is not as tricky as the cab doors - which is good 😁

For anyone else, I came across this video on Youtube which is a 2021 Ducato install video which is very helpful

Mine are not factory fitted, are on all doors, what difference would it make not being factory fitted?

Sorry, should have said its fine as long as any deadlocks fitted ....factory or after-market

I have posted this before but lost in the either now.
Michael at securied-van.co.uk fitted my deadlocks and Sapper520 he is offering a small discount to funsters within easy travel of Bristol.
I dont have any interest in this co. Just did a good job for me.

Scum

Do you need them on a 2021 Ducato? Thought I saw a thread on them no longer needed because of factory mod to lock system layout on 2021 vans onward?? Deadlocks , yeah but Proplates not required. Need to do a search , maybe wrong.

The screwdriver through the lock attack is what proplates try to block. It provides much more support. Then, they do break the lock, the hole to manipulate the release is harder to hit. Some kits also come with a channel insert that further blocks releasing the cable from the outside... Makes it much more fiddly to fit though.

Mine was attacked with an impact tool that ripped the barrel out, opening up the central locking some how. There is no screwdriver, just the pattern of the impacter head. Proplates would have done nothing to stop it.
