Here goes.....other half is a Welsh speaker....and although I know some Welsh and can generally work out what he is talking about, there is one word he uses about me (I think it's an insult) I don't know how to spell it and think it means Bonny girl.... I will try to spell it as it sounds...here goes...Hog an nobble...any Welsh speakers?

I am in the same boat, Caz speaks good German and sometimes calls me a Dummkoff or something similar, does any German speaker know what she is talking about.
I do hope its complimentary.

Your looking for hogan nobl.

Hogan is young girl. Hogyn is the male version.

Nobl is a mutation of the English word Noble.

So it's a term of endearment.

Hope this helps.

:) Something tells me you already know the answer to that one - Stupid head, for a literal translation!

One of the better German insults I think is a set phrase that means that someone is a person who can only have sex with the lights off.

Fecknerse

Driving up the A74, I always see a place name that just really sounds like someone cursing - especially if you imagine it in a Father Jack (of "Father Ted" fame) voice, muttering and cursing. And the place is.....

Ecclefechan!

Yes I had an uncle who used to take his caravan there nearly once a month ( he hadn't heard of Benidorm) I always thought it was a strange name.
I think there was probably a long debate over naming the town and finally someone said

" ecclefechan do "
