Poor design on my 2016 Imala 620, a void in the floor in front of the entrance door by the sink. Wife accidently stepped there when washing up and her foot disappeared down into the hole. I decided we couldn't live with it, possibly doing it again and injuring ourselves. Fix, a fill-in piece level with floor and allowing the door to still close. There is still some usable area on the step when the door is opened or the piece can be quickly removed. The piece can be left in place during travel so does not use up space. Will no longer step into a hole. Not a difficult piece to make. See pics.
