We're planning to have 10 days in Normandy/Brittany sometime in September but we're really unsure what treatments are appropriate to give a dog to cover them against fleas, ticks, sand flies, etc?

She's got an EU passport and we know we're going to have to get her wormed before returning but it's the preventative stuff that's the question. Off the shelf stuff for fleas and ticks don't seem to cut it apparently and don't cover things like sand flies etc?

There are loads of conflicting opinions on FB so I thought I'd ask some well travelled funsters for a bit of advice:

Sand flys are around that area of France but not so bad as Southern France. A Scalibor (spelling?) collar should give your dog protection, but if he/she is in and out of the water every 5 minutes it would be a good idea to take it off while in the water. The collars are harmful to aquatic life.

As for flea and tic treatment, use whatever you use in the UK.

EU Passport? is that an EU issued one, or an old UK one? If the former: Happy Days; if the latter: good luck with that. Or have I missed something?

In France you should be able to get Seresto collars at any big pet store or pharmacy they are very effective and last 6
Months
