Disconnect any earth leads from batteries.

That's going to make very difficult for Nikki to get it to the place it's going to have the welding done.

Ok smart ass

Make sure the nice man/woman/gender neutral welder remove the earth straps at the place of their employment/self employment :D

Think that covers all bases (y)

An experienced welder will keep the welder earth very close to the part of the vehicle being welded. If that is done there will be no effect on the electrics whether you disconnect anything or not.

:roflmto: well I could do the Hab batteries before I leave and then make sure the engine one is done when it's on ramp, I also want to make sure that he's going to put the earth strap very near the work on clean metal

I would choose a different welder and try to find one I trusted to do the job without supervision!!!!

Agreed but I’m a belt and braces type when it comes to ecu,s.

Just saying :)

The alternative these days to disconnecting batteries is a nice little unit you clamp on the terminals and it takes any surge or power disruptions out.
Not cheap but quite handy as it covers all eventualities and saves frying customers electrics, especially as more things are electronically based these days.
It also saves the hassle of reprogramming radio codes, alarms, satnavs, heaters etc etc (y)

Agreed but sometimes it can very inconvenient to disconnect everything..

Two earth straps seems little in the way of inconvenience :)

Still everyone’s inconvenient tolerance is different :)

Indeed:D . I was thinking more of the advice to disconnect the battery hen having to find the radio code etc.

Depends if they are both under separate seats and if you know the radio code!!!
