Anyone else get nervous before a trip ?

We are off on Thursday.. west coast of France for thee weeks.. can't wait go.. but already the nerves are playing up.. I worry about everything.. and mostly for no good reason..

Been like this for as long as I can remember.. fine once I hit the road.. I think I'm just a worrier..

I always double/triple check everything needed , docs, food , clothes etc ., but until I am actually well on the road I cant totally relax.
Have a fantastic trip Jim and all and hope your Wohnmobile performs well. (y)

Likewise.. have to wait until Thursday..

I asked the school if Chaz could have the last three days off.. they are only doing fun stuff.. no lessons.. was told no, and if we took her out they would report us and we would be fined.. fine I said.. bollox to you too
Crazy isn't it.

On my daughters last day at school she watched Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2.

I would have hated her to miss such high brow educational stuff when she could have been wasting her time seeing some French culture

Luckily neither my wife nor I are worriers about MH trips. In fact, apart from our final destination, my wife has no idea where we are going until I tell her!

On our way back from Lake Constance we are planning to stop at this stellplatz at Bad Durrheim which looks really good with a spa, swimming pool etc. 3 night stay for 42 euros plus electric.

On 1st July I was unable to play in our summer concert due to nerves-I've now been diagnosed with depression.
I get nervous even talking about where we might visit whilst on a trip,so,I'm now not told where we might go :)
We usually only plan as far as Calais, then Carolyn unveils a suggested route.
I'm usually ok once we've done about 20 miles-this morning I drove car for first time since 1st of July and it was scary, but I did it (y)
Mike.
sounds more like anxiety disorder than depression to me, they are not the same thing but you can experience both. have a read of this website as it may be useful to you

I'm fine once I leave the house drive.. no worries about driving abroad.. I enjoy it.. wouldn't have done it for three years in a 36ft RV full time if I didn't..
but sometimes I can't shake off that nervous feeling.. when I feel almost physical sick.. I know its daft and no reason to be worried.. have now got a nice 'manageable' van.. no worries about getting into aires etc..

roll on Thursday .. :)

I'm same way Jim, SWMBO has tried to teach me me her pisololphy about worrying, if you can do something about it then do it, if not then stop worrying.

Over the years it has worked its magic to the point where I now only get k to my stomach before we go, not physically illl like I used to. :D:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

The daft part is that I am unfazed if anything goes wrong, don't get worked up or hysterical, just take it as it comes and work to a resolution.

We lost a headlight glass last year at the PFS at Dover on the way to the ferry, parked up on the Marine for the night, drove to Folkestone C & CC site next morning, ordered a headlight, fitted it next day, rebooked Ferry for the following day and off we went, had a cracking fortnight in Belgium, Holland and France.

We are back over for 3 weeks in September and already getting butterflies.

I'm sure you will have a great visit but no point in telling to relax, that will come as you drive off the ferry across the pond.

Hymie.

Off to Romania for our first big trip in September ( Wife is from Transylvannia ). Will be away for over 3 weeks and cant wait. The only worry I have about the trip would be breakdowns ( 16 year old Adria on Fiat Chassis 2.8 idtd 57k on clock ) Heard lots of horror stories about 5th gear going south so I'm thinking of bringing new 5th gear kit with me just in case, Apart from that, no worries, will be first time abroad the van with our super hyper 3 yr old Border Collie...should be fun!..... Enjoy your trip Jim(y)

Good insurance takes any nerves out of the equation Jim and a good leader. Whenever we go away we nominate a leader who takes responsibility for the entire party. You would be surprise how many love a leadership role. Your lovely wife and daughter sound like a born leaders, let go of the reins then sit back and enjoy your trip.(y)

JJ would say about me I'm a B****y worrier  . But when I'm packing I think I'm more excited than worried. But of course working at the same time does worry me. I always think it will make me forget something I didn't write on my list. Of course I do have JimBoss's list, but there are a few things a Blackfoot needs that an English doesn't !!!!

BTW , do you realise we might meet as JJ and I will be around probably the second week of your holidays?
Two options: We tell you where we are/go so you can avoid us :p
Or you tell us where you intend to be , so we can manage to meet you! Don't worry if you choose first option I'm sure none of us will be upset as we are both happy with socialising/ with loneliness. We both like to meet up with people, as well as being on our own!
We start our French little tour on the 3rd of August

Amicalement

I've just had a case of the collywobbles.
In my case it's to the MOT Station and I've just spent an hour or two solving the case of the intermittent rear light flasher.
Yes? I know it's supposed to go 'On' 'Off' 'On' but in my case there wasn't an ON!!! (and it took a load of emery to cure it plus two duff bulbs.

I tend to be like that Jim... Never used to care a hoot about things in general now worry like yourself for no reason.
We are looking at booking up for Europe this year . We had planned to stay in the UK this year as we have only had our MH for a few weeks but Europe is beckoning. I do worry though as its 15 years since I drove in France.

Anyway have a cracking trip ! Oh and stop worrying ! (y)

Likewise I get a bit nervous before setting off even after all we've done and check and double check everything.
Not sure if its nerves or anticipation but its always there yet as soon as we pull off its gone.
The thrill of the unknown I think as we never plan too much just head off.

where you headed Brian ?

Mori, near Garda. A load of olde fartes, and not so old, on bikes. Mr Jaws is clearly getting senile, he's allocated all of one and a half days for the 800 miles. When I were a lad we'd do that on push bikes, before the paper round.

We're off on Wednesday, and the only thing I am worried about is Calais. It was pretty bad last year, had a swarm of migrants at a roundabout slowing the traffic down. They were banging on our windows trying to get in. My little daughter was terrified, and in tears.
Hoping we don't get a repeat this year. Other than that, no worries, spending tomorrow despatching various pets to the people who are looking after them :D

7 days and counting then.

Yeah busily trying to find a decent physio the guy I always used has retired.
Bloody lower back is horrendous living on painkilllers not ideal for a 2000 mile round trip bike ride. Add to that I haven't got the new bike quite right in the set up for me yet I am a bit anxious.
You know what they say "It'll be reet" roll on Sunday eh!! given up on the tent tho Edgy booked a hotel.:):)

I always worry before a trip. If it's flying then I get bad stomach aches and nausea. I don't like flying! But noticed this year that before our MH trip to France it was a bit like that. A bit nauseous and no appetite. Once I've gone a few miles then I'm fine. If I'm flying then I feel better when I land at the other end.
