Tried both! The puck was near useless. The larger one worked excellently, picking up things our phones did not. It's big though!

The more expensive one is 5G frequency ready. I had the previous 4G version and it was good.

Here’s both on my (old) roof. As you can see, there’s a huge difference in size. Any performance.

The 4G Poynting I had wasn't as tall, but had a similar footprint. It was big enough to cover up the hole from the TV aerial I removed.

The good thing about having both installed was I could test the difference. There was no comparison.

It was big and quite ugly though. It perhaps might've been better placed closer to the middle of the van.

In areas with good signal, my old Poynting in my panel van produced similar performance (upload, download, apparent signal strength) to the router's internal aerial when I placed the router on the roof. And my phone (on the same network) could often outperform it. But in areas with poor signal, where my phone struggled to get anything, the Poynting could often still stream video.

In the new van (coachbuilt) I got another router, but I've not yet fitted an external aerial as the signal doesn't seem to be as badly affected as it was in the metal walled van. I did try getting a cheap eBay special diamond shaped 4G antenna that I could suction-cup to the roof. I've tested it in several locations. It either does nothing or makes things significantly worse.

The Puck is only really suitable for urban environments as the gain in the lower bandwidths is sod all. Rual transmitters tend to use the lower bandwidths mainly the 800 mhz one.
People buy them then complane they are useless, they are not useless just not suitable for where most of us park Motorhomes. Just need to read the spec.

I recently fitted this
Poynting 4G-XPOL-A0001 Cross... Amazon product ASIN B00C1DGFPSto our Campscout to use with our old mifi dongle and recently purchased Firestick.
On the first night of a recent tour of the Cotswolds, we tried it suckered to the window and got a download speed of aroud 6 meg.
I stuck it on the roof of the van temporarily and got a download speed of around 30 meg.
Its now mounted on the roof permanently. Seems to be the dogs licky bits.
