So I bought a Poynting 4G roof arial before I left home and was planning on installing it on the way and attaching it to my Huwayawy MiFi. But now I find I am missing some cables. Anyone any idea what cables I need and indeed how to get them in the Dordogne or maybe on route to or in Portugal ?

There is a French Amazon Site.? I have ordered and paid for Via Amazon USA, before today using my Credit card. Gets local delivery charges too. Might work in Europe?.

amazon.fr

Ah right...thanks all...I wondered how all these full timers ever got anything...I’ll give amazon.fr and decathlon or carrefour a go even though I think amazon is taking over the world and hate it....

The little brass SMA to TS9 converters are better than the flyleads as 1 less connection to reduce losses

I have not got round to fitting my puck MiMo aerial, but instead mounted it on some aluminium legs and simply pop it out through the roof light when needed

Right good idea...found those on French Amazon....deliverable to a Tabac 😥. How did you mount it on aluminium legs...I might do the same for a bit as haven’t got a ladder tall enough with me to get on roof. I don’t want to take the sheet of plastic off as underneath that is the sticky film that sticks it to the roof.

mine was already mounted on a steel plate with pre drilled holes, so used them. I then made U shaped legs out of 2 pieces of ali angle. you could do similar with a bit of mounting tape to bond to the plastic sheet. or mount it on a metal tin to give a ground plane, which would help the antenae to work. These MiMo antenae work best on panel vans with steel roofs or those with an aluminium roof. I assume you can still buy self adhesive foil ground planes, but not checked for years

Won't you still have connect the aluminium tape to ground in order for it to be a "ground plain"? I doubt the adhesive is a conductive material.

simple answer is no, but a very long time since I read up on radio reception and broadcast

You need to connect both.
flippin’ Eck....I waited ages to pick up the connectors at Amazon Locker in Sarlat and only got one out of four that will go in....the other one that fits has got a nut on it 🙄. I’m starting to think that Northernraider has jinxed me....my Cigar lighter has gone now and I plug into that for Sat Nav. The only fuse box I can find is in the engine compartment and have put a multimeter on all the fuses and only one had gone so I replaced it with another 15 amp fuse but Cigar light still didn’t work so it wasn’t that one....

and the fuse box on the right under the dash? 2 big screws hold the cover panel, a 2p coin fits

Think he's got a Fiat 244 chassis but my old 244 defo had a fuse box lower left of the dashboard (LHD layout).

Your van has 4 fuse boxes 😁 one either side of the dash , one over beside air filter box and one on top of the starter battery .

And then theres the hab ones on the ebl

Cigarette lighter is usually only a 10amp and often the same one as the radio

Blimey....I’m gonna have to do some searching. Are you sure ? One either side of the dash ? Where ? I don’t think I’ve got a bedside air filter 😥 .....why would one need a bedside air filter ...ignore that question. My previous Hymer B544 had a fuse box under a black flap inside the glove box....but there’s nothing in my glovebox on this one. Yes the EBL ....but I wouldn’t have thought the Cigar lighter fuse would be on that but I could be wrong...the one on the starter battery looks as inaccessible as the fuel filter ! It looks like just a bunch of chrome bolts...doesn’t even look like fuses...

Jesus ! How many fuses ARE there ! I haven’t got a 2p coin ! I’m in France....if I find it I’ll have to improvise with a Euro...

There is a panel each side of dash below fresh air vent ...held on with 2 Phillips screws ...a 2p doesn't fit you need a screwdriver

Have you not got the books for the van ? In the owners manual for the fiat part theres a fuse box diagram at the rear which will tell you every fuse

I'm working just now or I'd have sent you a photo

Can’t remember if I got books for the van...it was all a blur getting it back from Germany and battling with DVLA. And then trying to get away on a trip....probably left them behind...I’ll find the fuse boxes...got loads of tools. Just haven’t got a fuse box diagram....I’ll just check every 10amp. Plus I’ve got a Max 180w that doesn’t work...presumably that’s a 15amp fuse..

I'll check my handbook when I drag my ass out of bed

Brilliant....all sorted...switched a fuse over from number plate light to cigar lighter ...and took out F46 as I can’t see that on the list and put it in F52 so my 180w socket is working for my Avtex sound bar....probably the reason I blew the cigar lighter fuse in the first place....Thanks Tam .....don’t suppose you’ve got a list like that for the other side have you...ooh and the engine one....then all I’ve got to do is hope Lenny HB is wrong and Banner Batteries keep going and I’ve got lifetime of trouble free Motorhoming...
