We have an autotrail chieftain , today we had it hooked up outside our house, it had been hooked for 6 hours or more. Our electric in the house all tripped and we were puzzled what had caused it because we hadnt just turned anything on. Anyway we got electric back on and only when i went in motorhome noticed that the power wasnt working in there. The red light on the charger is lit up but no power getting to sockets or lights , and no noise coming from charger. Please can you very helpful people give us suggestions what it can be? Nothing at all was switched on in motorhome either when electric tripped.

If your house is anything like mine, a bulb blowing can trip the power out on a trip.

Possibly could be rain getting in your hook up lead?

What tripped?

If it was an MCB then it could be an overload.

If it was an RCD then it could be an earth fault

update on no power in motorhome

Thank you for all your suggestions, although all electric in house etc had tripped the actual trip that had tripped was the house one not the motorhome one. It might have been confusing the way i originally asked the question. Anyway so the situation We are at is the trip in motorhome has not tripped, the power is getting to the charger cos the red light is on , but it seems no power is getting after that. Thanks for all your help with this one

If it is a Sargent PSU unit the red light indicates reversed polarity

"no power is getting after that" What do you mean?

Are the lights working? Do the 13A sockets work?

Have you checked the circuit breakers in the MH are on?

Is your hook up cable OK?

Hi
Switch ALL trips OFF and on again----they often don't look like they are off
Worth a try
Is the charger on the same circuit as the rest of the van?

hi shortcircuit,
been out to motorhome and yes it is a sergeant and it is the reversed polarity light that is on. The other switch a square one which is the on/off switch is not lighting up, so does this mean no power getting to motorhome?. The lights and sockets not working. What does this reversed polarity mean please?
