No I don't think you are Mad to look at an alternative way of life...

If you have any doubts always have a Fall-back plan...ie rent the house rather than sell it etc.

Have a word with Scotjimland and others who have actually done it.

I am sure there is a wealth of advise between them that they would happily share.
