We are having a new van soon and will require a tow bar fitting but all of the type approved ones look like something that should be fitted to the Forth Road Bridge!

The one I have on my current van would swap straight over and is quite smart but not type approved so would cause a problem if the van was involved in a claim even though it may be nothing to do with the towbar.

Has any one found a way around this problem.

Right got the tow bar sorted I decideded to go for a swan neck type as this looked a lot better than having a load of nuts and bolts on view from the adjustable type.

The silly thing is the bar on my old van is the exact same fitting but does not have a sticker to say type approved (n)

Just have a duplicate sticker printed........only joking of course

Not that long ago I may have just done that but with insurance companies looking for any excuse for a get out, it is like saying we would like to honour your claim sir but unfortunately when the aircraft fell on you we found your towbar was not type approved.
