Seems a reasonable approach from the EU, we can't expect to have more influence than say Norway who aren't in the EU but have aligned with it.

There was an article in yesterday's Times that was mostly concerned with Ed Miliband apparently wanting to muscle in on the Br*x*t reset negotiations, but part of the article is relevant to our interest:

Not a lot of substance to the following but included for completeness. Apparently the EU (or Ireland at any rate) are keen for an autumn UK-EU summit. Hopefully they might get around to announcing a date soon ..........
